With a bung in the top and a tube giving my plants the much needed CO2. Didn`t look so great until I planted some stem plants around the bottle. Love your videos and especially your explanations. Funny thing happened to me recently. I made 10 quart and a half jugs of wine. After a few days I realized that I couldnt smell them like usual. I have them in my 8'×14' bedroom. I like to keep my stash safe. So I looked at them and only 2 had any activity. So Einstien here got the brilliant idea to hook up a heating pad and place a heavy duty trash bag over them. Then whenever I thought about it I would turn it on high. The second day of that I started to smell them working. By the 3rd day the smell had over taken my room. Upon inspection I discovered all of them went crazy foaming out onto my shelving. They turned out okay just not as much product as I had hoped. 😭

stay away from the water all together and use a normal aquarium bottom cover of gravel/sand and use a lizard rock heater instead of a water heater. A towel will do as a top cover to keep the heat in and should work as well. The sand will work as a heat collector and spreader.

I need to pour out the alcohol from those and have some super hard cider haha. Cheers and happy holidays!

Hey Paw Paw, I'm almost like Santa Clause, Chris Cringle and Jack Daniels all in one. Lol. Well, since I was born on the first day of winter, Dec 21st, I'm frost on wheels. Much more dangerous than hell on wheels, lol. My first batch of wine was 12 crates of raspberries, 4 lbs of raisins, 2 canelopes and 2 bunches of bananas. It was like 15 gallons of wine. Lord have mercy, 2 weeks later, I got so drunk I thought my cat was a duck . I'm cooking my 3rd home brew and use clean buckets with plastic wrap. I think your , container is near impossible to seal with square corners . Round is easier to seal with plastic film and some rope

@@DoingItCheap - I can already tell you: yes, you can. It’s called step feeding. The yeast might chew through more sugar as it will some times acclimatise to the presence of alcohol. But as long as the wine hasn’t been sitting around for a long time, there’s viable yeast cells in there. Best way to go about it is to make sure you’ve got sediment in there. That sediment doesn’t just contain dead yeast. It also contains live, viable yeast that went dormant. Even without sediment you can fe-start fermentation as long as alcohol tolerance hasn’t been reached. After all, that’s how champagne is made: wine that’s fermented to dry and gets a precise amount of sugar added to it. Enough to produce more carbon dioxide inside the sealed bottles, but not enough to allow the bottles to explode. One of my best (hard) ciders is a cherry-berry I fed with just enough sugar after fermentation to make it sparkling. Because I don’t like it completely dry, I also added erythritol as well to sweeten it. Erythritol doesn’t ferment. I tried your original recipe out of curiosity, although I didn’t make it in the original bottle with the loose-cap method as I’ve got airlocks, a hydrometer, carboys etc. A bit sweet for me but very enjoyable. I only tasted a bit of it because I’m carrying it one step further: steep immature walnuts in it to make French “vin de noix”. It’s pretty close to Port wine. It needs a lot of ageing (make it in May/June, don’t drink any before Christmas, preferably not before it’s a year old). I figured your sweet wine would be the perfect base.

Happy Thanksgiving PawPaw !!! Made me a five gallon batch with it and turned out really good . followed your recipe except added just a 1/2 cup less sugar than your recipe calls for . and it turns out perfect . sweet but not too sweet . Mine got up to like 12 -13 percent abv.. i highly recommend trying it . just follow the directions on package and keep it in temp range and try to keep steady as possible best you can . i always cover it up with something the light cannot get thru and keep its mostly dark unless im checking on it . Hope you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving Friend.
