@@elihart5951 - So far my favorite was a mango I tasted last year. I brought several on a camping adventure and was able to share with several people that had never even seen a pawpaw. Mango was the favorite of everyone that tasted them. I will do a few more tastings as I have a few more varieties. Thanks for your comments!

Aw man that's awesome! I've been trying to convince my wife that we need a couple pawpaw trees. But she's like "have you ever even had a pawpaw? Neither have I". I can't seem to find any locally with which I could hook her 😂

It looked very good inside! I would like to try some different varieties, there's supposed to be quite big differences between some of them.

I find them a bit to strong tasting when the skin turns mostly black, i enjoy them the most when they fall ripe of the tree and directly eat them or within a few days. But flavour wise its so hard to describe them last year i did a taste test with a few friends we had susquehanna, shenandoah, wabesh and allegheny but for some reason it was very hard to agree on what flavours we tasted, every bite tasted diffrent for some reason, i guess in time we start getting better in describing the flavours, in general i tasted a lot of melon flavours in there.

Hi Chris, I have started seeds this spring from KSU and I have to ask how can I grow a mango pawpaw? Or any other named pawpaw? Are they from seed of a mango? 😊
@oregonfigs33142 ай бұрын
@@lukeott58 - Start with a seedling. Many enjoy taking seeds and starting them from seed. I bought four seedlings from Danny at Figbid. They were reasonably priced. I used my potting mix. I show my potting mix recipe on another video on my channel - kinda fun as I use my cement mixer. I grow them out in 7G. After you have an established seedling, you graft mango scion. Maybe you could find someone selling one already grafted?

@@oregonfigs3314 let’s see if I have this right. So you need get a Scion from a mango pawpaw and graft it on a seedling? I have a dozen or so seedlings . So a mango pawpaw roots are inferior. I guess I’ll buy a couple already grafted and also some scion to graft a few myself. Thanks Chris, I’ll check figbid

@@lukeott58 - It is common practice to take scions from known varieties and graft to seedlings. I ordered a few scions on Figbid this spring and grafted. It is fairly easy.

I can't deal with the texture, I bet your kids won't like them... Not a favorite amongst the younger generation.. My daughter won't even taste them, she just automatically says yuk 😂😂

@@telasims233 - I really like the texture. I definitely see how it would not be a favorite for many people.

@@oregonfigs3314 one thing I do like is that smell, they have that kinda pineapple, guava, Pina colada smell when their ripe, but the shelf life is so short.. here we smell it when we're putting out Halloween pumpkins, that's when we know their ripe..
