little rahdo style review tip for Shea: When choosing a card, Rahdo would've gone through many card choices telling us what was the thoughts on why each card would be good. The way you did it, I was like: Is he choosing randomly?
@RTFM4 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. There are a lot of cards in the market and I had quite a bit of game to show off, so I didn't want to spend too much time going over each option. I'll definitely keep that in mind though.

I really love these additions! Shea, you keep so much of the spirit (the self-banter between choices being the best!) of Rahdo's runthroughs, but add a nice personal touch. Really clear set-up, and explanations. Hope to see lots more of these!

Great breakdown! I found this game much more accessible than my early struggles wrangling Pax Ren (1st ed). Now that we’ve played a couple games of Pax Pamir though, we’re getting overconfident and feeling ready to tackle Pax Ren again.

That's not one I ever expected to show up on here. Good! This is excellent. I think there are som mistakes here though. You won't rule a region unless you got a tribe and the majority of armies there, if there are just tribes you don't rule just yet.
@RTFM4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I had a lot of fun playing it. Regarding the potential mistake: the rulebook says that you need "at least one tribe and a plurality of ruling pieces," and that both "tribes and loyal army units are considered ruling pieces." So if you have just a tribe there, you still rule so long as nothing else blocks you.

@15:45 you use your march ability on the blue suit card when the favoured suit is still purple.... is that allowed? I thought you could only use those bonus actions if the favoured suit matches the card? Also, those abilities that are in their own boxes (i.e. right brain's tax ability) you can use those whenever right? They don' have to match the favoured suit.
@RTFM3 жыл бұрын
The abilities on cards can be used regardless of whether or not their card's suit is favored, it just costs one action. If blue were favored at the time, I could have moved those spies as a bonus action, meaning I would still have had one more action in the turn. And yes, those special abilities in the boxes are always active so long as the card is in your court.
@AlouTheGreat4 жыл бұрын
Very well done, good job! just to be sure, at 36:40, you said you would like to use the tax ability but cannot because you don't rule anything. You could still tax the market, right?
@RTFM4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that was a bit of a mistake on my part. You can tax the market regardless of ruling the region on the card.
@AlouTheGreat4 жыл бұрын
@@RTFM that's right. Even more, you don't need to the rule the region on the card. you just need to rule A region, and another player has a card of that region in his court.

@RTFM2 жыл бұрын
I'd say Pax fills those requirements for sure. This game isn't my personal fave in that regard, though that's mostly because there are other themes and settings I prefer. I have a hard time identifying favorites, but a game I really like that definitely fits those categories is Root. It's by the same designer as Pax Pamir 2e, and while it has a bit of a learning curve, it gains a lot from repeated plays.

I think this game looks very interesting, but could someone tell me why the dominance check at the end was successful? Isn't that only the case when a faction has four or more blocks on the field compared to other factions? Because at that point in the game there are only seven British blocks versus four Russian blocks on the field

Around 35:00, your left brain/blue player could have taken another action because the betray action was on a political card and the action could be taken for free, unless you didn't want to do anything after that. Besides that, it was a very good play through and explaining the reasoning for your decisions!

Seems like a cool game but checking the kickstarter it was 70$? That seems like quite a lot for a game that isnt that component heavy ... or am i missing something?
@ArnoVdVelde4 жыл бұрын
I think that is all part of a expected print run issue and the component quality being great. Hard to really say much about it, but for me this is excellent, hard to put a price on design. I get the feeling but there are so many worse games for a lot more, or 60 with more in the box, but It's excellent. And the most approachable pax game that this is probably the only way a lot of people are going to get into the pax series.

Right brain and left brain... Lol... You crack me up, Shea! Are there any implications - more regarding this? For example, do you play differently with your right brain as opposed to your left brain (for example, more creative play/thinking with of our your brains [I forget which one])?!
@RTFM4 жыл бұрын
I'm aiming for that to be the case, left brain thinking things through a bit more and right brain going off of gut instinct, but sometimes I just go with what's best in the moment. It's hard to separate your brain in two for a whole game.

Is Rahdo expanding his channel? please summarize what is going on here.
@JohnLudlow4 жыл бұрын
Rahdo covers a lot of games and a lot more games don't get covered, either because Rahdo doesn't have time or because some potentially interesting games are not a good fit for Rahdo and Jen (Rahdo's wife and most regular gaming buddy). So Rahdo has partnered with a couple other channels for them to cover some games on his channel. This is Shay (spelling?) from the RTFM channel.
