Many points he mentions are not true. WAP5, WAP7, WAG 9 do not have DC traction motos they have 3phase AC traction motors. Even Wdp4, wdg4 jad 3 phase ac traction motors. Wai4 has dc traction motors

Good question That's electrical engineering ..commonly rotary phase converter..now they have smaller devices to convert..in our engines it's rotary and it's huge .

Rotary phase converters used in WAP-1&4 does 1-phase to 3-phase conversion. In WAP-7, 5 & WAG-9 static power electronic converters - Rectifier (AC - DC) and 3-phase inverter (DC - 3 phase AC) does the job.

All locomotives have gear boxes. Gear ratio varies from one loco to another. Kindly contact good mechanical engineers for further details . Don't imagine loco gear boxes as four wheeler, two wheeler gear boxes

I myself Mechanical engineer (holding PG degree in Mech. engg for 40+ years from a Top Govt. Engg college in India) and I know how to drive locos. There is gear between tracction motor and axle. but that is NOT called gear box. I am on some advisory/consultative committes to IR. THe speaker of this channel mentions that Locos have gear box like Two/ Four whealers which changes gear ratios (by changing gear) and as the power plant getting bigger these gear boxes becomr large/huge and difficult to mount , weight balance, cooling, etc. So Torque needs at various scnarios are dynmically managed by Power electronics & associated software that chages, current, voltage and wave form to achieve required Power/torquue. These power electronis systems are earlier imported now indeginously made by MEDHA at Hydrabad. To avoid huge gear box, many form for energy covervetioins take place with in locos(both diesel&electric) such as mechanical to electric, DC /AC,Single Phase AC , etc depending on loco type. Traction motors were DC motors earlier now 3 Phase AC motors. How many people know that WAP7 was developed from WAG9 by software changes done at CLW @ Chitranjan. I do not write in public forum unless I know the subject. My concern is that th channel is giving half baked and info. and mislead his channel watchers.

@@TheRavisrajan Gear என்று ஒன்று இல்லை என்றால் கியர் ratio என்ற ஒன்று எவ்வாறு வரும். ஒவ்வொரு லோகவிற்கும் ஒரு கியர் ratio ஏன் குறிப்பிடுகிறார்கள். Loco has gears . I didn't mislead anyone.

@@mmrailnews8274 i myelf a qualifed Mechanical enginer. Passed out 45 years back from a top govt engineering college in India. Locos havr gears. Traction motors have small gear called pinon. wheel/ axle have bigger gera. that are enclosed in a box and it is called gear case. Lubrication is done by a special lubrivany valled cardite compound. by definition a gear box has set of gears capable of changing direction of rotation and/or change gear ration based on need ant time(like auto mobile). A gear box in loco to have these characterstics is difficuly an will be huge in size as the power delovery id huge. so a gear box functionality is provided by changing input electricity paramwters (voltage, curremt, frequency, wave form, field weakining by shunt mnupulation, etc). All thse are done by power electronics (IGBT, thuristor control etc). . I think you are confused with gear case in locos and gear box. The circus of converting 25KV power to DC and then 3Phase AC or Mechnal energy (in diesel locos) to DC,etc is to avoid a hugge bulky gear box.
