Personal Hotspot Not Working On iPhone? Here's The Fix!

Two Apple experts explain what to do when Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone.
First, make sure that your cell phone plan includes mobile hotspot. Carriers have the ability to turn off Personal Hotspot on your iPhone, in which case it may not show up in the Settings app. If Personal Hotspot is grayed out on your iPhone, Airplane mode is probably turned on.
Next, check for a carrier settings update and an iOS update. Apple and your wireless carrier regularly release these updates to fix software problems on your iPhone.
To rule out a problem with the Cellular settings on your iPhone, Reset Network Settings.
If mobile hotspot still is not working on your iPhone, put it in DFU mode and restore. This will completely rule out the possibility of a software problem.

My problem and I can bet a lot other problems are that when you try to connect to a ps3/4 or a xbox360/1 it will connect and then disconnect not letting me play it will fail internet connection.

I've been looking everywhere to fix this. My new second-hand iPhone 7 wouldn't allow anything to connect to the hotspot even though I was using the same sim card from my last phone. You have to stay in the hotspot until your WiFi is connected (it will show up only if you are in the personal hotspot page)

This was real helpful, I thought Personal hotspot was disabled on my phone, only to find that my network carrier was not supporting. It was only after I changed SIM cards that the setting popped up. Thanks very much.

Great video! Fixed the problem on my phone!! For me, though, I had to do a hard reset after I reset network settings. Maybe just a simple turn off / turn on would have worked too. Anyway, after I did the hard reset, “personal hotspot” was on my phone. Thanks.

Hi guys can you do a clip on how to fix wifi. Since the new upgrades to ISO13 wifi only works sometimes. Tired everything with Apple, had to set up phone as a new phone and not install my backup. It worked.... until the next ISO13 update grrrr. I see heaps of others have the same issue

I was also like this, but I went to “cellular” - “Cellular Data Network” - Scroll down till you see the “Personal Hotspot” then add Username (it’s up to u) and Password. Then go back to settings and the Personal Hotspot will appear under the “ Cellular”. Hope it helps you :)

Just got the iPhone se 2nd gen and cannot get the personal hotspot to work. The guy who activated my phone, had a lot of trouble just getting the phone to activate. He had to put in like 3 different SIM cards and it took him over an hour to get it to finally work. I think he may have given me a bad SIM card and that makes me so angry cuz I’ve only had the phone for two days. Any advice ??

so ... I had the same problem with my new iphone. I tried reset network etc, didn't work. I googled for a guide in my local language, and turns out the problem was that I had to fill in my APN, and each providrr has different APN. now it works :)

My phone was telling me I was connected but I wasn't really getting any connection. I changed the access password of the Hotspot and it worked back again. It seems like the password wasn't supporting certain alphanumeric symbols properly maybe this is your case too.

The problem I am having is that when i first turned hotspot on it said "wifi, usb and bluetooth" or "usb and bluetooth only" and i accidentally hit the second one. No amount of network resets actually resets the prompts.. My iphone appears in wi fi list of my switch or other device and i put the password in spot on.. I even changed it to "testing123" just to prove it wasn't working, and it always says can not connect to network. It does work with the macbook via bluetooth or USB though.. I have searched the web for hours and nothing tells me how to fix my issue, nor this video.

I've had issues with my Hot spot and my data. My data won't work if my hot spot is turned on. So I found the settings (RESET NETWORK SETTINGS) mind you at this point don't forget I'm on an Android and it asks for a pin so I put that in and it clears the WiFi, mobile Data and Bluetooth settings and I think its fixed I'm testing it out seems to be working with my hot spot on and my data is now working

I fixed it by: Choosing forget network on computer. Then when I went to reconnect to it - it finally asked for the password again (which I changed), now that I was able to put it in - it worked
