My pleasure! And yes I know I speak too fast, but I do in French too, if it’s any consolidation. You should hear me when I am not purposely speaking slow!! 😄😝

It’s kind of fun to have somebody who represents the buyer… You are critical in a good way. I thought that second property was amazing… I thought it had a good feel too just looking at it… I think the ruins of the château are such a different way to approach buying a château property… I would change a couple things on the inside, to not make it look so modern or artistic if you will, but boy, the gardens and that whole property was amazing!

Great idea this kind of 'Tour de France' Dan! Castle no.1 is my favorite in this selection, however i think the 'tax foncière' will be quite high and will give the impression you rent the castle from the government. . Looking forward to your next video!

Thanks for the rundown, so helpful! FYI Château de Saumur - was told by agent that the barn on the right isn’t part of the sale. Hence the price.!

Another nice vid, enjoy these walk-throughs.... but i can't help myself thinking, 'delusions of grandeur'.

You and me both! But whats wrong with that?

We went to visit The first one, it is also for sale with Denniel, the problem is they don’t show photos from the caved in ceiling part … also one wing (right side) which is owned by the wife of a diseased family member and a part near the entrance that stays in the family which has the farm. Also around the château is flood land (not the château though)

Very interesting. A very good example of where a consultant (aka ME) could have saved you time and money

Thanks for this video, its very interesting. How does one buy a chateau when one is not a French citizen?
@FrenchEstateAgent3 ай бұрын
The simple answer is “the same way as the French” and as your similar question on another video. You would learn more looking at the visa side. Feel free to email me and I can give you some pointers

is there a way to find "last purchased price" on a property in France? I ask cause the 3rd one seemed to be a renovation project that was abandoned. So it'd be good to see what was paid for it by last purchaser.
@FrenchEstateAgent3 ай бұрын
There is explore.data.gouv.fr/, but nothing showing for the chateau. This only came out in france about 3 years ago, but also I find that chateaux are never mentionned, maybe a bylaw?

the work on these castle cost x4 the price to buy the maintenance : around 5 to 20k per month
@FrenchEstateAgent3 ай бұрын
Another way of looking at it is that if you buy a chateau at 1,5-2 Million, which is "liveable" but not properally insulated, it will cost the same. By buying cheap and renovating, you can make sure that the energy efficiency is a lot better, and thus cheaper to run.
@tuduermestrop84743 ай бұрын
@@FrenchEstateAgent i don't talk about renovation. I talk about the price to live in this kind of castle in France. First, you have to pay "landlord" ta : Bigger is your land, higher the taxe is. For this kind of surface, i hope you got a high income. Second step, the law and regulatori about the construction and renovation on castle. This kind of castle is not a "normal property", it's like a "treasure" of the city/region. So , you have to respect some rules about construction, like respecting the history of the castle, the architecture of the building. that get more expensive because the material are "precious" and the technic need some specific professional. Sorry my english is bad, because i'm french lol

Was that 500,000 euros for a new roof or did I hear wrong?
@FrenchEstateAgent3 ай бұрын
Yes Sir it was. Obviously depending on the state of the roof, its timbers, and interior access.

Hi there, that is because I am basing on the agents adverts, and in general they don't advertise them.
@daveandnancydawson3 ай бұрын
It would be very helpful to your spots if you would do a little more studying in advance, instead of searching for details from the listings…would make your channel more interesting and make you look more professional… 15:32
@FrenchEstateAgent3 ай бұрын
You apparently haven't understood the concept, it is me giving my first impressions of the chateau as i discover the adverts. Also I am not the listing agent, so it is not my job to sell these properties.
