@@eanotsport Tney usually have these promotions about 2 to 4 times a year. I just go my artist next song distributed for 4.99. Not bad for permanent distribution. I usually wait until the promos and pay for the single distribution, even if I don’t have a song ready. I just keep moving the release date out until our song is ready.

I seen Anti-Joy Distributor, apparently it's 20$ per year to use their service. If you want your songs to stay even after cancelation it's 9$ - single, 29$ - album And you can keep 100% of your royalties. Is this a good deal?

its really about what your looking for i think for an artist like me who have songs in the vault ready for the world to hear and have never distributed music before TuneCore is the way to go and once they get split pay it'll be even better (only thing they're missing is the ability to keep your music in stores forever), Distrokid would be great if they didn't upcharge and charge annually for content ID but they're second at least for an new artist like me who just wants their music out and collecting royalties, CDBaby i think is the next best option after but with no split pay, 30% revenue for content ID, fees for Upc codes and 9% of all revenue its definitely not what you should start with (at least i think so) but your really paying 9% to have your music in stores forever but that's something to consider later down the line and compared to the rest OneRpm sucks. Great Video keep up the work.
@robertojefferson3428
@robertojefferson3428 2 жыл бұрын
It's kind of the opposite man. 9 % is nothing to an artist just starting out with low stream counts and fan bases where as $50 a year is a lot. An artist doing tons of streams on every drop will pay much more to cd baby but an artist that's just starting out will pay much more to tune core.

I can't make a recommendation on a digital distributor without knowing anything about your objectives. It's all about what you're trying to accomplish. Might be an entirely different company that will work best for you. This is why I offer consultation, there are lots of things to consider and making the wrong choice could leave you trapped in a really bad situation. What artists don't really recognize is that these are recording contracts they're signing with these companies and I think I might be like the only person that actually reads through the terms and understands them. If you want a generic answer, I can say Tunecore. It's the best option for a lot of artists, is the best for you? I don't know.

This is very useful thanks! It would be interesting to know how Ditto stacks up against them for costs. If you are looking at it from purely a cost perspective Tunecore seems to come out on top. I guess for some people though paying more for others distributors might be a bigger benefit depending on the value and service they get from that.

Hasn’t been my experience. I don’t know what the issue was with your situation so I can’t speak on that. What I can say is that sometimes reps can suck, they’re people, sometimes people are bad at their jobs. Every company has people that aren’t great at their jobs. They get fired after that’s been discovered but the damage has been done. Additionally, sometimes it’s how an issue is communicated. Like looking something up on Google, if you’re asking the question the wrong way, it’ll be harder to find the right result.

The invite only thing is BS. They all take a percentage & just want to make sure you’re making money so they can make money off of you. They don’t do anything more than these distributors do unless you’re at a point where you don’t even need their support. It’s so wack.

I really enjoy your videos. They are super-informative. After watching your video from last year: "Best Distributor For Music #2: Why I Say It's Ditto", I'm leaning towards Ditto because of their $20 annual fee, unlimited music, large number of stores, and no fee for content ID and I keep 100% of that revenue. However, I'm seeing a number of warnings online to stay away from Ditto. What are your thoughts?
@Payusnomind

It's all about your appetite for risk. A lot of artists that use Ditto and Distrokid care most about saving money at the expense of everything else. The safest bet is Tunecore.

Should also consider that tunecore only has 1 artist profile unless ull choose 49.99 option (and still costs 14.99$ per artist). Onerpm has unlimited artists which is really good. Distrokid can also do multiple (depending on what u subscribe).
@Payusnomind
@Payusnomind 2 жыл бұрын
Should also consider that 15% of revenue from streams & sales + 30% of revenue from Content ID Onerpm takes. Then consider that $7.95 per release per year for new stores + $14.95 per release per year for Content ID + $0.99 per release per year for music discovery programs on top of an annual fee that Distrokid charges.

So, about the Legacy thing, where your music stays forever. OneRpm and CdBaby have it by default, since it doesn't depend on subsequent payments to stay on. DistroKid sucks, yeah, but the way the Legacy works is that your stuff stays "as is at the moment". It won't add new features, stores or anything. and if I'm not mistaken, it will remove the Content ID and Shazam after the first missed payment. But it'll stay on the streaming services it was at the moment. Now, Tunecore, unless you have people to eternally pay it for you, it will be taken down, so you better have a long trustworthy generation of family members to keep paying. Obviously, disregard this if it doesn't matter to you. If you just wanna have some fun and not worry about leaving your music on after you're long gone, then this is not a problem. So take into consideration how much it means to you.
