PB Swiss seems to make a hell of a screwdriver! This one is right up my alley. It’s going to make a great addition to the setup.

I got this for EDC carry at work, which I tend to use at least once a week. It meets all of my needs and is such a joy to use in a compact design. Thinking of picking up the stubby version next.

Glad you like PB Swiss. Count on Tool, drpd, and tool lady all sell PB Swiss in the US. I have bought successfully from the first two and hear good things about tool lady. They all often have sales. In fact, Count on tools had 50% off sale for Black Friday (which was insane) so I bought eight more 6464 (and some other stuff). Given your love of VACO I think you will like the classic handle ones in addition to the multicraft handles (the style on the 6464) too. Classic handles are smooth whereas the multicraft has texture). Definitely get a 6465 (the longer version you were talking about). It is my daily pouch screwdriver. Sadly only comes in red though. Lol. Happy New Year! PS Gedore, Hazet, Indus, Milgear, all of which have the rolegear mechanism are the best ratcheting screwdrivers. Milgear has bits and is $31. It’s identical to the rolegear.

My bad. MLTools not Milgear. Also I put a Ph2 in the end of all my 6464 so I don’t have to open it as often. I use the bit of thanks ones from KC Tool.

I might check those out. I’ve heard that “gear-less” design ratcheting mechanism works pretty good. It seems like it would work out well for a screwdriver.

@HTR I understand regarding the narrower handle, but to me that is an advantage. If I am doing a lot of screws, I am using an electric impact driver, if I have a really stuck screw, I am grabbing a chisel driver and a wrench, but for something to carry I want small and narrow. I don’t like the insider Pro as the bits rattle and that annoys me. It’s a very overpriced bit holder now. 🤣. The 6464s I toss in a center cubby of a vehicle or in my pocket and the 6465 I have in a pouch (the same one real world tool reviews uses, that’s where I saw it) with some Knipex pliers. BTW I enjoy the thoroughness of your videos HTR.
@ptstouring49
@ptstouring49 Жыл бұрын
@HTR I do think that one is the best value and I have all three of the bit holders. Swiss grip, multicraft, and classic. The 6465 won out because I don’t have to carry separate bits in my pouch. I also work a lot on land rovers so I swapped in a pozidriv 2 bit and kicked the smallest flat out and put in a 2 slotted multicraft screwdriver in the pouch. Slotted screwdrivers are really where PB Swiss shines. The style of the tip is unique and similar but in my view better to a hollow ground. I do a lot of work on my old house and having good slotted screwdrivers is key for that. I find the PB slotted bits not as good (but still very good) as the PB slotted screwdrivers. At this point I am collecting and I have the ones I use the most (PB, channellock 6 in 1 acetate, Wera chisel drivers, a Gedore ratcheting bit holder, and the Wera with the hex bolster and lazertip). The PB Slotted kicked the Felo wood ones I was using out of use, but I still use the giant Felo wood ones for big slotted screws.

U might like Megapro automotive ratcheting less back drag than Wera has magnetic fits 1 inch bits same spinning but holder handle not too fat made in Canada my favorite ratcheting has to be toss up between classic snap on best mechanism but bits just drop into handle and uncomfortable handle and mac/Proto rebrand least backdrag and bit holder holds 4 bits and extra storage for them to rattle around hardest to find also
@realworldtoolreviews

I’ve thought about picking up the Megapro before. They look pretty good. Don’t they have some USA made ones too? And yea I really like the Snap on ratcheting screwdriver. Never seen a Mac one, but I bet it is good. The PB Swiss ratcheting is crazy expensive. If I want to spend 100 bucks I’ll get the Snap on.

Something you might be interested in: WIHA makes the best screwdriver handle. It has a impact-type chuck on it. Make sure you get the German made one, they also make them in the US they look the same but they have some issue with the chuck in the US made one. Red cap on the handle, black handle red neck just above the chuck. Code 1/4 387 Now match that handle with this bit: Anex Japan 2x200 yellow thin bit. It’s a JIS bit so it fits screws perfectly. That combo I just gave you will blow your mind. You are welcome 😄 0 play in the handle/bit holder and a solid connection to screws! The shaft is so thin you can get into any space the control is amazing because it’s not ratcheting you have full control of the screw.

I just bought that Klein in a Xmas 2 pack with the same style stubby…. I do like them overall cuz of the adjustable lengths, but can definitely feel the “cheese” factor. The end that spins is slightly offset and doesn’t snap shut. The stubby…. When ya pull out the bit carousel it will completely come out if you’re not careful. Been curious about the PB Swiss since Last Best Tool has been showcasing some stuff I also own the same SK screwdriver and agree its pretty darn close to perfect. Only difference is that mine has a small hollowed out section and a plastic cap for extra bit storage.

That SK bit driver is interesting, I have an SK, and it's not like yours, mine is just a little longer than my Craftsman and has a wider magnetic end on a thinner shaft. My Snap-On ratcheting driver is in my pouch everyday, otherwise my other bit drivers are rarely used, and stay in the toolbox. An associate of mine is a real fan of PB Swiss, I can't say that they feel that good in my hands, I'm really habituated towards square handled drivers, I like to have those edges to reef on if I have to. Round handles feel like I have to grab them tighter to apply the same torque. I will say that the fit and finish on those PB Swiss drivers appears first class, their slotted screw drivers might even fit better than Snap-Ons. The PB Swiss ratcheting driver is really smooth and looks to be well made, enough so, that I'm considering purchasing onr. One of my dislikes of bit holders, especially with well fitting bits, is when the bit sticks in the screw rather than the bit holder. I keep a worn bit handy for some of my work because of this. I hate having to fish bits out of recessed holes. Thanks for sharing. 👍
@realworldtoolreviews
@realworldtoolreviews Жыл бұрын
Yea I love the long SK bit driver. It is nice when I need a long magnetic bit. I agree with you about square handles for screwdrivers. I like them better too. I feel like I can get a better turn on them. I also love the tri lobe handles for that reason. That being said, the pb Swiss is really nice. I too am considering a ratcheting one.

It must be a home maintenance / electrician / plumber kind of thing. Maybe from a mechanic perspective, or maybe just mine, I don't see much value in the bit drivers. I just always end up grabbing my normal screwdrivers, even over my snap on and mac bit drivers.
@realworldtoolreviews
@realworldtoolreviews Жыл бұрын
I like using normal screwdrivers more for sure, but bit drivers are an on the go thing. I don’t want to carry 10 screwdrivers with me into an attic or on a service call for a bunch of random stuff. That’s when the magnetic bit drivers that hold bits are really nice to have.

@HTR the ratchet mechanism is the weak spot on the screwdriver, and yes, you can apply much more torque to a fixed blade. Believe it or not, you can get "T" handled fixed blade screwdrivers and any other style available as a ratchet in fixed blade.
