Pocket 8-10s SUCK... I had to strike out in the 10th frame to beat my previous high game of a 166 on March 7th. Strike on the first ball and left the 8-10 with a solid pocket hit on the second. Only got 1 pin, should go without saying. Got a 165, and I was steamed.
@berserkerman112721344 жыл бұрын
@@NateCraven318 it's caused by the ball more skidding than rolling, causing the ball to bounce off rather than go through the pins. In other words, probably didn't throw it correctly lol

Old timer here, the Del Ballard - Pete Weber gutterball possibly was the worst mistake, since that was the final shot for winning the tournament. Ballard was playing his strike line which was swinging outside of 5 board, risky but no gutters until that memorable last shot. He needed just 7 pins, obviously should have moved in with a hard straighter line. Crazy ending!

When I was younger (probably a teenager), I was a league bowler, and would infrequently compete in regional tournaments or some such. One time, I started a game with five straight gutter balls. That's right, _five._ I was into the third frame with no score. It was, hands-down, the most embarrassing day of my life. I blame my nerves and the fact that I was in a different state, around people I didn't know, in an alley I had never been to before, but I wanted so badly to do well in those, and that was, by far, the worst single game I've ever bowled.

The last clip seems strange that he has never seen the 8 10 split. I do feel better that the pros are not perfect and prone to gutterballs. I recall the Marshall Holeman match. He was having a very bad day and you could tell he just wanted it to end
@sxnchou4 жыл бұрын
He has seen the 8-10 split before. There’s no doubt a pro has shot at or seen one in his many, many games and years of bowling. The thing is that the 8-10 usually is a product of a light pocket hit by low-speed strokers (recall Walter Ray) whose ball cannot drive through the pins with enough revs and lose all energy and cannot take out either 8 or 10. But he has a high rpm and speed. That shot looked like it would have formed a mixer 7 pin, or almost have a pocket 7-10 with the messenger flying to take out the ten pin. But neither happened, and I’m pretty shocked to see a mixer shot leave a 8-10 split too.
