when it comes to player's prime/age discussion, isipin mo ung age ng professional rookie sa NBA, papasok pa lang ng college sa Pilipinas. dun pa lang olats na tayo eh, then prime age ng player sa NBA, rookie pa lang ng PBA and most probably ibabangko pa un. kaya di tayo makasabay masyado sa international level eh. parang ngayon na lang nagbago since gumamit tayo ng bata sa national team and karamihan sa kanila overseas pa ang lalaruan as pro players which is really good for development kaya sistema talaga ang pinaka kailangan baguhin dito Pilipinas. simulan naten dun sa sistema na pinaparepeat ung mga studyante para makalaro pa sa highschool para daw "hinog" na pagdating ng college haha

Personally, I'd make the import conference the entire PBA season. Triple or quadruple round robin siguro. Para na rin preparation for PBA participation in the EASL. All-Filipino, ideally, is just an offseason tournament after the season. Basta, it ideally has no bearing on EASL qualification. Problema lang, the All-Filipino is considered the crown jewel of the PBA season, e. So, good thing na naging practical ka dito.

Changes are inevitable and most of the time unforseen. Pero sa PBA, inaasahan ko na magkakaroon sila ng rival local professional league na completely opposite sa kung ano ang PBA ngayon. Malay lang natin na maging patok ang Filbasket sa buong bansa, or NBL, at VisMin. Baka may possibility na mag-merge ang mga leagues na 'to like what happened kung paano nabuo ang Japan B-League. Well, I completely believe on your every insights about PBA, Ize. Pero ang nakita ko sa league na 'to is they can't really compromise, in a way to sacrifice, for the betterment of the league itself. They might also afraid of these modernity we're talking about for some reason/s na corporate and political na ang kakahantungan. Maliban sa “Nanonood pa rin naman kayo,” typical linya naman ng ilang PBA and former PBA players ang “Ito ang hanap-buhay namin” which is in my opinion has an underlying statement saying that there is no other league here in PH like PBA and it is their only best league option na paglalaruan. But now, may Exodus na ng young players na nangyayari and also it will be really difficult for PBA to “compromise” to prevent future losses they might get. So, ano ang other viable solution (for me)? A newly established professional league na competent maging healthy competition against PBA. Simple logic lang. Hindi masarap ang Bear Brand (Powdered Milk) kung walang tatalo sa Alaska (Powdered Milk). Kailangan natin yung idea ng City-based teams sa separate professional league upang talunin ang corporate-based teams ng PBA. Ibang league format ng separate league against sa stone aged league format ng PBA. Dapat ma-ipamukha sa PBA na hindi na sila ang best option if they'll see this separate professional league becomes successful to fans. May kasabihan 'yan “Hindi mo matututunan hangga't hindi mo pa nararanasan.” But I'm hoping na matutunan na ng PBA bago pa nila maranasan. They shouldn't be complacent when it comes to these new local leagues (MPBL, Filbasket, VisMim, etc.) You did a great job on this content, Ize. Surprise us more!

Personally, I think the PBA should also make sure that each team has that something that will allow fans to have a personal attachment to that team. Since teams are not tied to a location/school, this used to be done through "staple players" or players with large fanbases that are considered the face of the team. For example, you'd root for Ginebra because of Jaworski, or Alaska because of Abarrientos, etc. Unfortunately, the era of "staple players" is over, with teams being more practical by trading even their "face players" to other teams in order to stay competitive(?), and, as you mentioned, teams keep changing their name

Spot on, worth the wait. Isa pang nakikita kong problema ay ang kultura na kung saan yung rookies nabibigyan ng very limited minutes yung iba hindi pa nakakalaro. I understand they have to earn their playing time pero masyadong babad yung veterans tapos ang bagal ng pace of the game and it gets predictable but the rookies are still on the bench. Why? To minimize turnovers and to execute on offense? This scenario is stagnant and its counter productive on both ends. Hindi ba?

Pba needs to reboot their system They need to adapt the modern style in order to become a better league,fix the system like removing lopsided trades,eliminating teams who are not competing seriously,better policies towards contracts of players,better advertising towards their companies and remove guys like chua and marcial who are controlling the system of the league also having a free agency can be a help for players especially they have a chance to play for the desired squad they want and having salary caps is key in order to lessen the stacking of stars like smc teams do, if they can improve marketing strategies and endorse their players and products well,this can be helpful in progress of league and remove the stupid gilas draft and let the players play in order to help on the assigned mother team

Basically years of frustration na mga katulad ko na lumaki sa PBA (35 now) naoutline mo in this video. Nakakalungkot na the league I loved in the late 90s/early 00s just doesnt seem to care anymore about innovation and adapting. Kahit yung pag promote ng stars hindi na din ginagawa kasi wala e yung mga matatanda lang naglalaro tapos ayaw magdagdag ng team na competition ng current companies, BS salary cap... Unless mei viable competing league (i.e MBA) they will never feel compelled to do anything

Great video and good pointers. It’s true i think pba should focus on their marketing strategy, how to promote the league and make new “idols” for young generation. Be more strict in approving the final brief of advertisement, and work on their target market. From there improve the league ( expand teams, 3 imports for better competition, 1 to 2 conference, etc). Lastly make more freedom sa contract ng teams and players. I think pba should revamp the whole management and the league if they want to survive. Bring back the competition, puro Tnt, Smb at Gin ang naglaaban. Great video keep it up!

As a casual observer, ang hirap din mag-latch on if there are no "permanent" PBA teams outside of BG. The way my parents described Crispa and Toyota were like Lakers v Celtics. Imagine if the NBA decided to get rid of those two franchises overnight. PBA, at least for me and my peers, is business-first, second, and sports-third.

On point, one of the reasons na di ako nakakapanood ng PBA is mahirap maghanap ng stream ng live, andaming players na hindi ko kilala, kumpara nga naman dati na TV lang bkit di nila namamarket ngaun yung mga players nila, mas kilala ko pa yung mga players sa commercial league na nag-uupdate ng page nila ng stats at league leaders sa FB, i would love to watch PBA games specially after a long day regardless ng team na naglalaro pero walang platform online pwede mong mapanood live ng maayos, malalaman ko na lang pag lumabas ang higlights sa YT, nauuna pa yung mga small content creators sa mismong PBA.

this video really hit some points that the PBA needs to take heed. PBA needs to create a better atmosphere for their players, athletes have a very limited playing life span probably less than 10 yr average, so most of them want to make the most of their playing years. PBA has legacy and tradition but rules should not be hindering it's growth.

Me and my dad have very different interests, but one thing we both have in common is that we're basketball fans. And PBA is one of the few things that we bond over. Kaya ayokong mawala 'tong liga na 'to. I still want it to be THE Philippine league, pero kailangan talaga nilang magbago. Sabi mo nga, kung ako, PBA fan pa rin, baka yung mga future generations, hindi na. The league doesn't appeal to young people anymore. Pati nga commentary style nila, parang pang 90s pa rin. Pati yung mga batang player na magagaling, iniiwasan na ang PBA. Right now, may nanonood pa at meron pa namang mga player na masarap panoorin. Pero 10 years from now, 20 years from now? Baka wala na.

Great video. At last, someone made a video that reflected young basketball fans in the country. Maybe if I could also add something for the PBA Clubs to consider is creating a “Buy Out Clause” for its players. In this way, teams will be given incentives for developing players that will be recruited by foreign teams. It creates additional income for small clubs and hopefully lessen, if not eliminate, their “dependence” to bigger clubs in the PBA.

i hope the league see this video. i love the league but due to it's problem sobrang tinatamad na ako manood. paulit ulit na lang kasi nangyayari. im a fan of smb pero gusto ko rin manalo yung teams katulad ng phoenix and other independent teams. i hope the league will get better in the future so i can share the stories of PBA on younger generation.

Solid content, I watched from start to finish. Galing, I like your criticisms and even better, offer solutions. I like that this encourages discussion, not spreading hate. I belong to the 35+ demographic, been a PBA and Ginebra fan since the 90s. Nakita ko din yung highs and lows. Maganda if you open up conversation videos with fans from various demographic on what they think. Kudos!
