I bowled certified string pins and recorded it at Foxview in Waukesha last month. When I left, I felt like it was real bowling and was cool with it. When I watched it later, I realized how dead the pins looked as they mostly just flopped over. No messengers, no pins left spinning on the deck. I just don't see this adding any excitement to the fans that this sport desperately needs. Plus side, the racks were fast and flawless and ready well before my ball returned. I don't think the pros should use them as eventually the strings do knock pins over, which is just plain bull.

All the old heads should absolutely love strong pins then. They're always getting upset about trip 4's or messenger 10's or late lucky breaks. This would be a win in their books. If you get bad service or bad food at a restaurant the worst thing you can do is leave and never go back without ever telling them why. These comments are actually read and are the only way fans can state their honest opinions where they will be heard. Strings are not a done deal, yet. I encourage all to speak up in support or not in support of them. Be honest. If the popularity dwindles they can't claim they don't know why. Tom Clark has dedicated himself to more exciting bowling with all the special tourneys he creates. I have faith he will listen.

As a 59 year old who quit bowling for 20 years because the industry didn't treat itself enough as a sport, I don't see anything wrong with strings. I rarely get messengers, but I have no problem with those who can create the ball speed and revs to get them. Same with bowling with your thumb or without. Whichever way you can score higher is what you should do. I've been back a couple years now and love to bowl against the young kids.

Strings shouldn't be adopted period. They cause too much nonsense and remove skill from the game, as Kyle picking up that five pin spare in the beginning shows. With no strings that wouldn't happen. So with enough time and practice you could reasonably predict how to abuse the strings to do things that're otherwise difficult. It should be difficult. If someone picks it up on skill and wins it's better than them winning because strings knocked things down.

I dont know why Troupe stayed with urethane so long. It never shaped well for him on these lanes.

When strings are the only option I have left, I'll be playing a lot more golf... and I won't feel bad, because this isn't bowling. It's a pathetic carnival game imitation of bowling.

String pins take virtually all possible pin action out the equation....its 0 doubt it makes the sport less entertaining to watch

Physics says "strings" influence the pins. Somebody smarter than me PLEASE show the calculations

You don't need equations to prove that the strings knock pins over that would have otherwise remained standing... all you need are functioning eyeballs. Hell, one eye would be sufficient.

I will never buy the strings. A way to save money while it screws the game.

This is why bowling is a dying sport. All these changes and regulations required to get on the tour and the conditions in which they have to bowl on with not having balls that are over 2 years old to a 25 second shot clock violation for each roll and now string pins. Disgusting 🤮

Bottom line… String pins = way less pin action. Less messengers. Lower scores.

The scores are almost identical on legal string pins vs free fall. Cite some sources that say otherwise
