Yes, I also like to repair rather than just use and throw as most people I know do. It's not only the cost in dollars that matters. It's the whole issue of sending reclaimable materials wastefully to the landfill. Thanks for the trouble you take to make these videos and also make them light-hearted, because typically people who come to view fix-it videos like these are a bit negatively mooded just because they have to fix a problem which they do not quite know how to and if they will succeed, on top of being annoyed with the manufacturer that their mattress had sprung a leak, in the first place. And thanks for finding the time to answer your viewers' queries! I hereby 👍and subscribe.

Thank you so much. I guess I was raise not to be wasteful. If I have a tool, piece of gear, or whatever, I try to get the most out of it. After all I spent hard earned money on it. If I don't need it any more, I'll find someone who might be able to put it to use.

Thank you so much for putting this video up. I have a queen size Intex double high air mattress it's not cheap and I have cats and they have put some holes where the seam is with a seem to the top of the bed in the side of the bed come together and I've tried some regular air mattress patches that are heavier-duty and they are just followed the till the end of the patches even though I put several and still came out the end. If you have any fantastic ideas or any ideas about how to repair an air mattress that has holes where the same comes together for the top in the side I would sure appreciate it because it is my main bed. I have a very bad back and a double high air mattress is perfect for a very bad back

You are welcome. I can't guarantee it and I haven't tried it myself, but perhaps forcing FlexGlue in the tiny holes when the mattress has got only a little of air so as to not have the top and bottom touch but not enough to force the glue back out the holes. You know what I mean? let it cure fully before filling back up. I did something similar in this video. > kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqusfnSrh7Spo5o It worked well. I hope you find a solution.

Thank you for making this video! I’ve had a queen size air bed with built-in inflatable headrest on it for a little over a year now. Also by Intex and purchased at Walmart (was about $60). It’s super comfortable, but my idiot cat slipped between the air bed and the wall and he punctured it with a claw. @TSGEnt
@TSGEnt 4 жыл бұрын
I believe it will certainly stick. I just dragged out that blue mattress (btw, video coming soon so stay tuned) and it is still sticking! I chose to put tape on the inside, because air pushing on the inner patch, that and the outer patch assures the hole is sealed. Give it a whirl. The worst thing that can happen is it might leak a little because of the fuzzies making a way for the air to escape, but then just snip a bigger hole on the outside and try the inner tape method. @TSGEnt
@TSGEnt 3 жыл бұрын
My thought is, it's always best to have the air pressure pushing towards the hole (inside) rather than pushing away from the hole (outside). However, the Flex Tape adhesive is very sticky and should hold up even on the"fuzzy" side. Be sure the patch is large enough so it won't develop a channel where air can leak and let it sit overnight uninflated so the adhesive can cure and fully bond the material. Let us know how it goes.

There was a video before this one w/o the underpatch. kzbin.info/www/bejne/naPHo2Z-eZmSnZY It was a very small hole and it's still holding well. In this video I was demonstrating a far more sever tear/hole. I'm not sure how well it would hold upon the just the topside. I optioned for the underside/topside method because I believe it would the best option in this case.

I enjoy your videos. However I tried the Flex tape. Got it from Walmart it was about $13.00. And Warning you don't get much of this tape on a roll. It is a bit annoying to try to cut to size with scissors. It's like tacky vinyl. However after trimming it to rounded corners. And placed it over the hole that was in the top of my felt covered air bed. We placed it over the pin hole. And placed a heavy book on top. Allowed that to set overnight. The next day we inflated the airbed. Guest tried to sleep on it later that night. By the next morning one of them was halfway on the floor. It didn't work. So unfortunately the Flex tape is a No for us. I returned the remaining Flex tape back to Walmart for a refund. We also tried Gorilla glue to no avail either. So I will continue to try some other things. Because this airbed isn't even a year old.

That is an interesting concept. I'm gonna guess the spray would thicken the surface too much to make it fold up small. Also, it might take an entire can of spray to cover the whole thing. It would be cost-prohibitive for practical purposes. The mattress in the video was under $10 on sale. Maybe a spot treatment on a leak could work. Would make a fun Flex Spray Extreme video though!

Ouch... It's breaks my 💔 to see you purposely creating a hole on your brand new Intex Air mattress. After I watched your video I went out buying the flex tape to fix mine but 🤦😭🤷 it didn't hold. I pumped after an hour and straight away it started coming off now the difference is... Mine had a hole on the side by the vinyl side and not on top by the velvet material which I'd say maybe on that velvet material wasn't going to hold but it did on yours. Another difference is that I didn't put a peace of flex tape on the inside as I didn't want to make the hole bigger. I did exactly the way you did on yours besides adding the hole and putting a peace from the inside. What could have caused mine not to hold? 🤦🤷

Just a clarification here. It looks like you used about 2 3” strips of flex tape. If a 5’ roll is $14-$15 then that total of 6” of flex tape would have cost $1.40-$1.50 not “pennies.” I agree that you may just want to toss a cheap air mattress but there are cheaper ways (including regular duct tape and hot glue) that may do the same thing. I love flex tape but I certainly don’t think it is a cheap solution to any problem.
@TSGEnt
@TSGEnt 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed there may be cheaper solutions, but I've tried duct glue and hot tape and those don't flex and stretch when blowing up the air mattress and don't last as long as FlexTape. I've used that mattress repeatedly since making the video and the repair is still holding up! I may have come across as a bit of hyperbole in the video but technically $1.50 is only 150 "pennies".😉
