My S23 was knocked into the lake in 7 feet of water. Found it on the bottom two days later. I first took the back plate off to dry it out, hoping to save pictures at best. I found no trace of water inside the phone. I dried out USB C and sim card slot. Replaced back and charged it up. Everything works fine. Speaker/Mic/Camera all good as ever. That is an amazing phone. Probably not waterproof now that I have removed the back, but not planning on dropping it in the lake again😊

Great work with the scratch test, very realistic. We can see the major problem is, and have always been, sand. The quartz crystals really destroy the glass screen. Because the size of the rocks and gravel would probably always scratch any glass, and its not like people walk around with rocks in their pockets, but more like their phone rubbing against small edges and particles in the pockets. So using finger grain sand and some smaller gravel or rocks would imitate more of an average use to see how it would hold up against scratches.
