What’s crazy to me is how we are still gluing batteries down. You can easily have a cushion pad behind the battery, then 2 plates (top and bottom) that screw down and hold the battery in. You can make the screws hold other components as well.
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 7 ай бұрын
adhesive is not the problem. they can use good pull pouches like Xiaomi and similar companies use which can be reused. those are really easy to pry off and attach a new battery down to so no need for screws even.

I must have clip the flex cable for the screen from the bottom where it meets the display or somewhere else when working my way around not realizing that I had separated the screen from the plastic border rather than the frame of the phone. For some reason on the 8 pro, the plastic boarder was adhered to the frame stronger vs the screen to the plastic border. On the 8 it was a breeze and didn't have any issue with it.

Wondering how graphene pad compares vs vapor chambers in terms of heat dissipation
@onetwentyfour
@onetwentyfour 7 ай бұрын
ifixit had an article a few years back when Samsung was using a vapor chamber in some Note 20 Ultras and a graphite pad in others. The thermal engineer they reached out to said "There is little difference in performance between [vapor chambers] and the graphite. As long as you take the gap tolerances into consideration, it can be simple enough to swap them out for each other.” He also mentioned drawbacks of vapor chambers stating “at these thicknesses, the VCs are a little delicate during installation. Any little crimp, dent, or bend can cause one to fail.” Plus, “if you heat them up just a hair past the limit, they will swell like a balloon. You can imagine what can happen to a phone.” Also two years ago, Andrei F from anandtech (a site once known for incredible testing methods on devices) said graphite is better than vapor chambers in a now deleted tweet. So...based on these two things, I'd say graphite pads are actually a better solution.
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 7 ай бұрын
as far as a graphene pad vs vapor chamber, the vapor chamber would be better, but 3D graphite which is multiple layers of graphite seems to handle just as well as seen from prior tests by other reviewers back when samsung started using 3D graphite in their phones vs vapor chambers. But not samsung has gone back to vapor chambers for the most part.

Good job. We need more isopropyl alcohol to replace the batteries. Why did they use so much double-sided tape? Replacing the USB-C port is not possible at home, which means it is time-consuming and expensive. Thank you for this material. There have been many videos on the teardown of that phone, and since the phone doesn't really have any rugged features, and only has gorilla glass 3, it wouldn't really stand up well against a drop test so most people wouldn't even be interested in seeing it. Not sure this is where to ask, but assumed the phones still work, can your next video answer the ultimate question nearly all of us are asking but no one's willing to answer: How does the radio (baseband) in this, which is a 5300i vs 5300g in the G2, compare especially to the Snapdragon in the S23? Meaning testing in a fringe area for basic connectivity like phone calls & speed test next to a base station.

I didn't get a chance to test cellular connectivity due to the fact I "couldn't" activate the device that early, so I wasn't able to test things like that. I'm sure others will post videos very soon with those details before I would even get a chance to do a video on it.

Plenty of warranty stickers and indicators in the phone, even the battery has a glorified warranty sticker with the pull tabs. Disappointed at the excessiveness

Pretty poor internal design. Soldered charging port, screen needs to be removed for battery replacement. iPhones are pretty modular, just sad that Apple pairs their parts.

lol what are you saying. What does it matter what others do. My channel does not make anything close to those large channels, so I have to sell off the devices to recoup costs for future videos. I pay full price if not more for everything, so I am not given these for free. There is no way I could do all these videos left n right if I never sold anything.

To be honest, it doesn't look to be all that repairable. Just swap the device with a new one. Similar to what other vendors do.

I mean the port can be replaced by repair shops which can do soldering, but its just more difficult since individual users can't purchase the replacement part and replace it themselves without soldering expertise.

@@WirageVoyage thank you. Well actually, the thing that mostly be broken the soonest, must be the screen. I am from Vietnam, so impossible to have parts to replace. We have Samsung factory here, so most people stick to Samsung since service center is quick and responsive. I love Google phones but I hesitate since the service is not as good as Samsung
