I dont think ATR was the first to fly atv 200. Im pretty sure six years ago ive seen metros do it in canada

As an older guy who stopped flying for a few years when GPS was getting started, I jumped back in and couldn't understand why the big push for something that could easily be, deemed unreliable by a solar storm. We have seen that already, coupled with roving GPS blackouts consisting of 17 hours or more, just for magnetic north re calibration. The bottom line is as you mentioned, SAVING MONEY!!! The magenta line worshipers at my flight school already dont like the fact that I showed them this unreliability and the frequency at which it happens. Stay sharp with your radios and all of their quirks, pilots, it just might save your hide one day!
