I just made these and I am OBSESSED 😍 I wanted to mention that everyone should make sure the beginning chain fits around the widest part of your hips so it doesn’t end up too small to put on. I crochet pretty tight so I had to size up quite a bit but they fit perfect!

I think you still increase at the beginning and end of the row, but add another increase. So like 2 increases at the beginning and end of each row or however many increases needed to fit your measurements.

Ok, so I started making a dress that I wanted to build shorts into way back in March, and I just so happened to make the front and back panels 61sts. I didn’t do any maths or anything, just vaguely followed the shorts after I had what was basically a vest. I needed 4 more rows until I was at the length I wanted to start the legs, and through sheer luck I’m at the perfect number to join the tutorial properly with 65sts between the bridge chain and centre front! AND I got the centre front perfectly first try! What kind of crazy good luck is this?!

Just a question, in the Uk I am a size 4-6 however in this tutorial I have started as a size M. I have nearly finished row one but I have realised it will not go over my bum. Should I start again with a bigger size or continue and it will fit?? Many thanks for reading my message ❤

You should definitely try an upsize if the round doesn't fit you'r bum! Also at the very beginning when you've just made the foundation chain, you can check that chain by wrapping it around your hip and as long as it's about 1,5-2 inches larger than your hip then you're good to go 😉 Ps: don't forget to work the foundation chain loosely 💞

Those shorts looks really good and i will make someday to me, because i want this summer wearing something i crochet to myself. I have some question about that pattern. Question 1: How many yarn skeins i need to make size XL (my hip measurement is 114cm (which is about 44inces))? Hi there❤ I think you'll need around 250-350 meters of yarn (thats about 2-3 skeins, if 1 skeins=110 meters) 🧶 Also the amount of yarn maybe different with different types (eg: you may get more yarn in 1 skein of acrylic than 1 skein of cotton) And yes multiple colors yarn is adorable!!! my favorite for this project😍

Hi, im at the point where you are about to make the shorts, I counted my stitches and one side is two stitches more than the other so one is 57 and the other is 59, at 28:11 you said you can add a stitch marker at a random point and place two double crochets instead of one there, can I use this same method however add a third stitch marker and add a double crochet there too to make it even, so that it becomes 59 and 59?

I’m just a little confused around the 26:20 mark. I’m making the XS so I currently have 92 stitches not included the chain 2. Now that I have to half the stitches into 45 and 45 I have one side that is 45 and one side that is 46. I started with 92, stitch marked the half way point and didn’t count that in my stitches. But then that leaves with 91 stitches without counting the chain 2 which doesn’t divide evenly I just don’t know what to do bc all the numbers were working out until now. If you could help me I would appreciate it sm!

Hi there💞 so, the 92 sts of Xs should include the beginning chain the chain 2, in you have 92 Dc sts with the chain 2, then you in fact are having 93 sts! But don't worry now, you have only 1 accidental stitch and there's a quick way to fix just it and I did talk about it at 27:44 😉

You can wrap the foundation chain around the biggest part of your hip to make sure it fits. Keep the chains in the even number and you can proceed with the same technique as in the video, although you will to keep trach of the number of sts on your own so I would recommend to have pen n notepad nearby💞

Hi💞 yes! Cotton yarn is definitely stiffer than others. However, the foundation is what decide if the waist band would fit through the hip. Make sure the chain loops are nice & loose, check the size by wrapping the foundation chain around your hip (it should be over 1inch bigger than your hip)💖

hi i had a quick question!! do we have to turn our work after every round? i just prefer not turning my work😓

Hi❤ turning is very important in this pattern because the chain-line need to be straight for the back seam of the shorts (the chain-line is the one on the whole piece created by the begin-chains sitting on each other that we make after slip-stitch to join each round), this line will be tilted if you don’t turn your work after each round which is fine for others project like hat or scarf, but not for this shorts 😢
