When picking up stitches at seams, I would pretend like I dropped a stitch, and do the same thing I would with a dropped stitch. This helps to prevent the holes.

kara's knit-eng has another method for adding an elastic waistband, working well with me for these shorts so far especially because i have elastic band on hand instead of shirring elastic

Hey good video mine look a bit different though the seam is in a diffeent place for the rows I increased were you meant to increase one at the back and one at the front or 2 at the back and 2 at the front?

definitely can be pants! i would maybe do a little less increases but either way just experiment until you get something you like :) good luck!

you could try decreasing every 2 or 3 rows instead of every other! then it won't grow "outward" as fast and will result in a tighter fit

Hi!! the shorts use knit and purl stitches but I think to make these shorts you should also be comfortable knitting in the round and increases!! I would say once you have those things down give it a shot! good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi, Kait, First time on your channel__your shorts project brought me here. 😺 If you want to learn a better way to knit that crotch area without big holes you should check out Suzanne Bryan's channel__she's a master knitter with all kinds of tutorials on how to improve our knitting skills, highly recommend! 😺 I thought you did an excellent job with this 'not a pattern' template! 😛 I think I'm gonna give it a go for longer shorts as well as lounge pants, as I'm an older woman. 😹 Thanks for sharing your work with us. 💖🙌😺
