PBS NewsHour Theme (1983)

Full, regular, theme music from PBS NewsHour (MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour) from 1983. In 1999, they refreshed that music with a newer version. 1983 was the year when the program became a one hour nightly news program on PBS. Before that, it was a nightly 30 mins program that devoted to one topic. It debuted in 1975.

I prefer this version better! I was one of the youngerst viewers of the Progam starting at age 6 during Arab Spring, along with my Grandparents we would watch it during Dinner. I am sure I am one of their youngest steadfast viewers! I would love to meet Judy Woodruff one day!

reminds me of my childhood, when my parents used 2 watch 'MacNeil-Lehrer', i used 2 drive them krazy w/ tha ending of tha song, @ 1:27, just 'cuz i thought it was kinda creepy, but @ tha same time funny, 2!! a few weeks ago when they alluded 2 an episode of 'MacNeil-Lehrer' from tha year 1994, which means i was only four when that came out, but as soon as they played tha clip of tha episode they were alluding 2, this theme song played, & it said 'MacNeil-Lehrer newshour' on tha screen, 1994, & i'm like, 'WOW!! THAT'S A BLAST FROM THA PAST!'

Does anyone know when this version was recorded, and where it was recorded? Was it a freelance studio orchestra, or was a full time orchestra contracted?

No, I meant 1999. In that year, they've re-record the theme. The theme sounded very much the same, but much more fresher to match with their new graphics and studio at the time. Here's the 1999 theme music.
