Photo developing. Some of us took photos on film and then paid to see which ones sucked. I still have a Fuji 35mm camera...stored away. A time long gone.

That looks like a great time and place to live life. It won't be that way again for a long long time.

These guys are cool but shaping a surfboard is the same as roofing boat building car design metal work rope making lion taming shelf stacking house painting fishing welding bricklaying hole digging astronaut sub mariner electrician plumber bullfighting whaler farmer hunter soldier politician lighthouse keeper and shepherd and king we're all the same just earning dosh I have surfed and lifeguarded all my younger life now I bricklay and don't think my life needs any aprichation I am happy in knowing what I create

No it’s not. These are shapes that are fine tuned to the specific rider and the type of wave they will be surfing. It truly is an art as the ocean is dynamic and the shape plays into the riders style. A car is mass produced product. I think you can get the gist. Shaping boards is not just about performance like the other things you mentioned, it’s an aesthetic pursuit that is very specific and niche to the shaper and rider.
