That is why i use Linux. Steam, GOG and Humblebundle is all i need. If a game requires any 0-ring drm/anticheat to spy on me, i just skip it. There isn't any game worth giving UNLIMITED access to your hardware. Winblows already logs everything you do and spams ads in the start menu, then defaults to uploading everything to M$ one drive cloud and has Bitlocker encrypt your hard drive so you can't recover data (or just locks everything because you upgraded your components)

I had a back and forth with a PlayStation Fanboy a few days ago, and his argument for the Firewall being put on PS games was the 120-180 countries being blocked are poor, so they don't need to care about them. Which annoyed me personally as a person who lives in ones of these countries and has a better PC than most American PC players (Ryzen 7 5700x, RX 6800 and 32GB DDR4). I can easily run these games. Just because we don't have as much residual income as the USA doesn't mean we can't afford anything, or we don't have paved road or high speed internet.

Man I dunno, I have both a pc and ps5 but this whole thing is dumb. PC logins are far more intrusive than anything you ever see on a playstation. Of the top 15 currently most played games on Steam (Concurrent players at the moment I looked), 3 required a 3rd party account. EA, Rockstar and Activision accounts (Apex Legends, GTA5 and Call of Duty). The top 10 most played Steam games of all time, not a single one requires a 3rd party account (funny, 11th place needs a 3rd party account). So PS Fanboys, tell me how "I need a 3rd party account" for PC games again? In my personal top 15 games on my Steam, only 2 need a third part account. And I don't play those that much anymore.

In what way? If something this small prevents you from buying the game then you where never going to buy the game if given the alternative option to pirate it. The argument that game pass cannibalizes sales is because the monthly game pass fee is only like 10 bucks a month for the basic tier. A single person would need to be subbed for several months to make up the sale of 1 game. By releasing it day of release on game pass it teaches people not to buy games but use game pass for much cheaper. Which impacts sales of the game for both third party and first party titles during launch. Leading to a potential for a loss in over all revenue in new titles. Less relevant for older titles that have already hit market saturation.

Sony's actions are a direct response to people complaining about not being able to make PSN accounts and claiming it is unfair to sell. So block all those countries to avoid that issue. It is like the internet made a wish off a monkey's paw. And since the internet when acting in a group isn't that smart, they didn't think things though. Which is even funnier (to me) because the store front you buy from only supports about 45% of the world's 190 currencies. Odd how the internet isn't out raged that someone from the Republic of Sengal can't use their currency to buy a game. Because they don't accept the West African CFA Franc.

PlayStation must take their investors as fools if they think PSN PC users is going to impress anyone, its just a component of the games sold on Steam and nothing else. Its not like these are PS+ users, if I was an investor I'd not be impressed. Forcing PSN on PC is pointless across the board. I have PSN since I have owned multiple PS consoles and if the From Software games do get ported I will buy them regardless but I think this whole situation is just trash. This feels like a half step measure before they introduce their own launcher and try to force PS+ onto PC users.

god of war 2018 never heats up, i forced myself to platinum the thing and even though it takes less than half the time of a single normal run of tlou2 to get said platinum it felt twice as long because its so utterly fucking dull, it is a truely dreadful experience and apparently ragnarok is even longer

I dont play games that uses a PSN account. Its unsafe as playstation does not have any security. I dont know why. Anyways, since I have blacklisted Ubisoft and Blizzard, I am finally starting to play good games from AA and indi developers. Turns out AAA is garbage. Also, if AAA crashes, we will get more AA and indi as people will have to start from scratch. While the studios will turn to more and more micro, focusing on victimizing the silly people who defend them, they do not have that much money, so they will downsize meaning we get more studios. Also, to the commenter at 9:00, no. I dont have those account because I dont play bad games without proper gameplay.

You need to look into does it play offline. Yeah some games are not fully printed on the discs but most are especially on playstation. That's why I still buy consoles. (Mainly ps5 and Nintendo switch)

I wouldn't trust Sony PSN, or any Sony PS system that requires any internet connection, because Sony has proven that they take purchases away from people (see, Discovery Networks' programs, all the PC games that require a concurrent login with one's Steam login)... ...but the problem is, I haven't bought a new console since PS1 (yeah, I'm so old, I remember DARPANET, 8 1/4" floppy drives, TRaSh-80's, PLATO terminals, and playing Pong and Asteroids in arcades when they were NEW (hint to the Sony Ponies, that's, way, way before 56k dialup!))...and to get one of the two games I really wanted that are available in non-Nintendo hardware, Dragon Quest 8 * (I'm not buying an old DS), I bought a used PS2 (uffda u, Sony, not the high seas, but buying used hardware and games - well, you get nothing! nothing! GOOD DAY, SIR! /roflmao!/) ( * - I also bought Final Fantasy 9 and 10, just to make the $129 used PS2 purchase a better value - total, all in, including the three games, $190, possibly a bit of an overpay, but so far, any overpay will because the two Final Fantasys don't meet my expectations, as Dragon Quest 8 has, so far, far exceeded them.) Having read the Steam terms of service, it's clear that if Lord Gaben chooses to completely remove a game from the service for no other reason than he said so!, all he has to do is change the terms of service with 30 days notice, and he could do it legally with no possible recourse for anyone who owned the game(s) he changed the TOS for to remove, and no refunds. And I don't know if I can trust Valve/Steam to not do this (Digital Homicide, Andrew Watt, Zonitron Studios, just to name three shining examples of Steam's quality control (or lack thereof) are more than enough to nuke my "X to doubt" button while Cillian Murphy intones "...now I have become Death, the eater of worlds..." through my controller (since I have no speaker on my controller, I would duly freak out when this happens, of course whilst my fingers receive 400 rem of gamma radiation, and I enjoy the coolest miniature light show of all time, before I die a horrible death in 6 hours!). I want to own a copy of the second desired game of mine, Dragon Quest 11, but I don't trust Steam, and I sure as [expurgated NARF!] don't trust a internet connectable PS4 (plus I won't buy a PS4 with just one game, and I do tend to be very picky about what games I like, so I would need to do research to decide if there are any other games I would want, and even if I found a few, PS4 is still supported by Sony, so is current enough to pad their stats, and I don't want to do that... ...I have a serious question - am I being too mistrustful of Steam? I have grocery shopped to my mom's standards, and above, for the past 50 years (not figuratively, LITERALLY!), starting by pulling my little red wagon with a shopping list, some money, and high expectations from my mom, so I learned a long time ago about advertising, marketing ploys, and TOS's, and how to make pennies scream if necessary - and if Dragon Quest 11 was $10, I'd risk it with a little hesitation, but $40 on Steam with its TOS as it is, that is something that is making me far more likely to give up on ever playing that well rated game that I really want to own. If anyone has any good reasons why I am being too mistrustful of Steam (or, for the Sony Ponies, you get the chance to state good reasons why I am being too mistrustful of Sony PS4, with the handicap of a much higher price tag than Steam has to deal with), I'll listen...and consider them carefully. (And, for God's sake, folks, I do not want anyone to be the reason why Joe from Seattle goes on another rant, except maybe po' l'il ol' me, and if he does, I expect he will have good reasons for me to be somewhat less distrustful of Steam, and say so during his rant.)
