@@techtime2922 Where My problem comes from is that I work from home, I spend at least 8 hours in the chair per day. And over the last year its been closer to 14 hours per day. Something that is comfortable, isn't always ergonomic. usually with "gaming chairs" the seat is soft, the chair is wide, and the arms are padded, but it doesn't have the features that protect my posture. A soft chair might be nice to sit in for an hour or two, but after 8 or more hours, my entire body is sore from having to support my weight in an non-optimal position. When I bought a chair with ergonomic features, My butt is a little more sore, because the seat is harder, but my back, and my knees, and my shoulders, and my neck don't hurt anymore because it keeps my body aligned ergonomically.

Just did this while looking for a new monitor, after my last one from 2014 croaked, by researching the available options online both off the shelf and by post. Finally decided on a Samsung VA panel based monitor from a local store, specifically the Samsung C24F39, instead of another IPS one like I had before. Part of the reason was when I plugged in my VA panel based Samsung TV from 2012 to act as a temporary monitor, the colour and contrast was just so much better. Also, it has the right size, look, and general feature set I'm looking for, such as backwards compatibility with old retro builds with a VGA analogue input to go with the HDMI input, while also coming with newer features, such as flicker free technology and a curved display, at a really good price. EDIT: Just before pulling the trigger on the Samsung, I just found another replacement monitor that I really like the look of, specifically the BENQ GW2470HL, that's currently available from online retailers. However, it does has two HDMI ports to go with the required VGA port instead of just one HDMI port, positive reviews on Amazon UK, and looks to be a generally higher quality monitor than the low cost Samsung, while still being available at around the same price. True, it doesn't have a curved display, or AMD FreeSync. However, the lack of FreeSync doesn't bother me as I'm an nVidia graphics card user, while the curved display is just an optional extra for me that I can easily do without.

I bought a Herman Miller Embody several years ago. It cost about 1500 €. But in comparison it has a rather special frame, the backrest is simply amazing and it also comes with a full 10 year warranty. I've had to replace both arm rests once (the weakest link of the chair is the plastic locking mechanism for the height adjustment of these, although I propably adjust them more than most). Otherwise it's construction quality is close to perfect, it's very comfortable and it breathes thanks to the floating design. It's a pain to clean though. A very high quality chair, a display of engineering at a price and warranty that a high end product should have. I've also sold and repaired gaming chairs (various brands) and they are, indeed, really, really cheply made. Four typical problems were: bad threads and/or wrong sized screws (both were quite common), a twisted stand (the part with wheels was very often twisted like a propeller), bad welding of the base (the welds were often very shallow and sometimes broke off) and finally bad materials (the base would sometimes just simply crack at random places because of a porous result of bad casting). I've also worked in a foundry as a mechanic so I've seen (and made) some bad welds and casts in my days but nothing got out of the door there in a shape that some of the parts in these chairs seem to be in. Then again, quality control is the first thing to go with cheap stuff. But I viewed it as an investment, maybe for life (if it lasts that long).

Depends on how you treat noise/music and the headphones you buy. If you are a casual music listener and treat music like background noise, a pair of audiophile headphones will hardly sound different to a pair of 20 dollar ear buds or 300 dollar Beats. It takes a dedicated listener to appreciate the clarity audiophile headphones deliver. The pair of headphones matter too. Each headphone from reputable brands like Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, or Fostex will sound different and be spec'ed different. If you don't do your research, you'll be dissatisfied that your PC isn't strong enough to run your headphones or the headphones have too much bass or treble for your liking. So before you buy audiophile headphones, actually do some research on the matter so you don't get disappointed by your purchase. Check reputable brands, go to an audio store to try them on, and make a decision.

If you're tall, almost none of the reasonably priced chairs, gaming or otherwise, have the support in the right places. One upside to the gaming chairs is that you can throw away the pillows, and have a straight chair. No curves is better than having them in the wrong places.

An often overlooked item on chairs is the armrest padding. I cannot stand sitting in a chair for an extended period of time where the armrests are just plastic, or are under-padded. I've gone so far as to take apart armrests and stuff them with memory foam in order to improve their cushion.

On the other hand, I needed to replace an Enermax AIO that I had to install in an emergency that I bought from Fry's(in January) with a Corsair model that I preferred and they(Fry's) didn't have any, but my Best Buy had the exact model I wanted right on the shelf...I still go to Fry's to window shop and then buy on Newegg(doesn't everybody?)...Ciao'

Hey Jay! Loving the video but I would like to throw in my own two cents about gaming mice, I used to buy the cheapest mice I could get when I was younger and as I got more proficient and faster in playing games I found that the sensor became too slow to keep up. So while 150ips is kind of rediculous, there is value in the ips of premium mice.

Remember monitors that had "Windows Vista Compatible" stickers on them... I sure do... The best part is they should have included a "HDCP Ready" sticker instead, because that is what it effectively meant on a monitor at that point. Ah, the early days of HDMI gaming... :(

I hate it when there's not option to turn it off though. I'm not really into having much lighting in my PC case or my peripherals, my keyboard can be backlit when it's dark and that's it. My new GPU though, has a giant "GIGABYTE" logo on it in RGB, which can't be turned off without physically taking out the lights. That annoys me.
@EMU15 жыл бұрын
I just hate being forced to pay extra for the RGB because they do not include the features needed in a vanilla style motherboard. There used to be more vanilla styled performance oriented motherboards that were relatively low on extra features, but provided excellent value. Now, these boards are extremely crippled with much lower VRM quality and you need to go up 3 tiers of additional RGB and features that wont really be used to get anything decent. I dont hate RGB, but there are plenty of users that arent interested in RGB, and want good performance for a good price.

@owld.b.a.pbrowlornolaowl52185 жыл бұрын
Depending on where it's at. Gold plated for all the pins on the PCI, USB, SATA, CPU socket, audio connection etc would prevent corrosion and good for signal. I have seen copper pin get that green coating and ruin a connection. But typically that happens on equipment exposed to the elements. I wonder if gamers Nexus dissected on yet. That channel is great for really in depth evaluation. Jay is great at fun but informative reviews.

@@owld.b.a.pbrowlornolaowl5218 the capacitors on mobo will dry out much sooner than corrosion will kill contacts. Just gimmick and way to excuse its expensiveness.

@@Morpheus-pt3wq not in every situation. Solid state caps last a lot longer than the old style of capacitor. (Solid state, aka polymer cap are a feature.) So if you keep a system long enough (not constantly upgrading) that has solid caps than a good plating on connections is desired. Granted I live in a high humidity area so I have had a PCI slot on a HP PC that was used in the garage green out on me. But typically works laptops the USB ports crap out on us. We are constantly plugging and unplug hart/rs-485 modems wearing down the protective coating. Than out in the field. The inside of the ports look good but sometimes the solder joints will be green, once the system is open up. I will adgree you for every day user it's a gimmick. But for "industrial" user it's not. Also audiophile swear by the gold on the equipment. But they will be using a card...

Definitely aesthetics plays a part in someone liking RGB or Racing style xyz. When it comes to desks, I feel like whatever fits your gaming area and does it have room for your pc pheripherals is what matters. I use the Ikea Fredde (sp?) desk and I like it. I’ve tried so many chairs it makes me sick, but so many chairs gave me back pain with prolonged sitting. I was on the verge of buying an ergonomic specialized chair until I gave one last ditch effort into the Secretlab chairs (Titan)...I cannot imagine using another chair. I like that it isn’t too “racing” style and that it is comfortable and to me, looks good. Regardless of “my view” on it, Jay is right...put your butt where you want lol.
