Im 38 now and was trying to figure out why I still make sure to cut the plastic that holds soda cans together, I had an image of this game pop into my head. I believe I was 6 when I played this. It taught me a lot. ❤

This was my absolute jam. I’ve played through it dozens of times. So much nostalgia it hurts a little.

A talented young actress from Fresno, Brittany Benov struggled all her life with bipolar disorder. As a child actress, she got her start appearing in Fashion Furniture commercials. She then landed several TV roles, appearing in episodes of "Highway to Heaven" and "Midnight Caller." She was also a voice actress in the computer games "Ecoquest: The Search for Cetus" and "Mixed-Up Mother Goose" by Sierra On-Line. In "Ecoquest" she was the voice of Delphineus the dolphin. On New Year's Eve 2004, she attempted suicide when she was rejected at a party, and was hospitalized. Three months later, she died in the New York City apartment of a man she had just met, from a drug overdose. It is not known whether her death was an accident or suicide. She was just 24 years old.

oooof those movement speeds. played this back in grade 7...the nostalgia is real, we didnt have speakers tho...so its weird its hearing it voiced

Loved this game, but I preferred it without voices - my Dad and I would play it together and make up the voices on our own. He was a great Superfluous.

The voices are SO bad, I didn't even know a version with them existed. They lessen the emotional impact of the entire game.

@@TheUsername55555100 I think they're pretty good by Sierra standards, at least Adam and Delphineus. But I grew up on the talkie version, so that's what I'm used to.

If anyone is wondering about Sierra's reputation for cheap deaths: Compared to most other adventure games by the same company, the difficulty level is lower, with the intention of making the game more suitable for younger players; for instance, it is impossible to “die” or get irrevocably stuck in the game.

Agreed. This was an attempt at early copy protection but really only ended up hurting actual owners of the game that would lose the code.

Time to ruin a great game: the TRUE villain(s) of this story is/are still at large for the TRUE villain(s) are the people who put the drums of toxic waste in the ocean in the first place!

I think they were held responsible, I mean you can’t complete the quest without getting past their cave of death, which involves giving the protective suit w the case w logo to authorities. Or if it was a shell company, the villain in the sequel was probably behind it. The guy had hitler in his contacts for pete’s sake. Frankly I’m more upset the oil rig wasn’t shown to be plugged, as after Deepwater, that hits different, ie harder. And there is the ghost net, its too big to be what they get captured in during the climax. Not to mention the human bones all over the place. There are years of clean up and research just sitting there. And no one else has seen any of this?!

Half naked boy rubs the bird till it's clean... what a horrible horrible game. I never liked Sierra games, they're so bloody bug ridden, all of them. I also bet the bearded man wears a dolphin costume later on to play some more with little Adam. The "dolphin sound" tipped him off!
