I recently fixed up a 2015 Dell XPS 15 my friend found in a dumpster in 4 pieces, and what a satisfaction it was to see it come back to life. It may have no parts, have a broken audio controller, have a touch pad that can't click, have a screen with an artifact that looks like an oil smear right in the center, have battery PMCs that needed soldering back onto the motherboard , but it's my daily driver now.

What a fantastic interview. Super interesting to hear Owen’s PC stories. My first official PC was a Dell machine that I acquired in 2016, but I grew up with an old white plastic eMac that I’d use to play flash games and burn CD’s on. I still have my 2016 Dell and haven’t changed the CPU or GPU, but can still run AAA games with no issues (maybe have to go a little lower with the settings these days though).

My first family pc that got me into pcs and learning how they work was the dell dimension 2400. Ours had the celeron, I upgraded it to a pentium 4 and put a GeForce mx4000 in it and eventually a GeForce fx5200 in it and bigger hard drives. After years with that pc I built my first pc which was an amd 3500+ socket 939 with a Radeon 1300 and eventually upgraded it to sli 7600gs. When it the 8800 launched I upgraded it to an opteron 165 I overcooked to 2.8ghz and got the 8800gts 320mb on launch. Those were the good old days

I did not expect them to talk about the R7260X. That was the first GPU I ever bought (Turns out it had a defect causing artifacting, but I only realised it 2.5 years after purchased. It was still within warranty so I took it back, they verified it and they gave me instore credit. I used it to buy a more powerful GPU for even cheaper. Such a win!)

@@youtuberobbedmeofmyname I bought mine in a physical store (MSY) so they're required to refund it, if found to be defective, under Australian law. No idea what would have happened if I bought it from the manufacturer directly (I think mine was MSi Branded)

I don't play videogames anymore but I run my desktop build that I made in 2017 and my 2015 11" MacBook Air for everything I do. I love both machines very much. My little 11" MacBook Air has 8gb of RAM. I got it a long time ago refurbished off eBay for only about $300.
