Thanks GM King I was at this match for game 10 and 11 I'll never forget game 11 when Anand lost by dropping an exchange with a simple oversight. You mentioned Kasparov's admiration of Anand's calculating ability? An excited Kasparov came into the VIP room and was quite upset that Anand took so little time to calculate before his blunder. His exact words were "What? He thinks the World Champion is going to drop an exchange so simply! He showed me no respect and lost because of it!"

As you mentioned GM King, clearly Vishy was not really ready for the pressure of a World Championship match in 1995. He certainly went on to a great career! Keep up the great work on these videos Danny! I am disabled now and homebound. These videos add a lot of enjoyment to my days!!

I remember Garry saying all this too. Clearly Anand didn't cope with the pressure of the match very well and we didn't see him at his best. But Anand learned a lot from this encounter and it helped him to become world champion later. It was a few years afterwards that Garry spoke about his respect for Anand's tremendous speed and ability to calculate.

Not sure why KZbin decided that today was the day to suggest a 7 year old video, but this was as good as every other chess video from you Daniel. Thank you so much for all the work you've done to promote the game of chess!

Always so awesome =)! I just recently started to play chess (still major noob), but I'm getting the hang of the lingo and the way you present these videos and they just get better and better as I improve myself. Got to say that this video was one of my favourites so far! Thanks a bunch!

I keep trying to calculate e7 as a resource for white after black's 19...d5, but in all the variations, the important point is the king on e1 - sliding a rook to e8 not only stops the pawn, but it does so without any loss of tempo, and it prevents the pawn from actually covering the key d8 square.

One last comment on this match. I took in two games of this match in New York on my way to Italy with my wife in 1995. I could not help but think of all the wonderfully friendly people I met at the Top of the World Trade Center concession ... when six years later while visiting Italy again at beautiful Lake Como, I watched in horror as the towers collapsed! We all remember where we were that day!!

Thank you for this video. I really like your videos, sir. But I have one note, one little request. It refers to one moment in this video, but I've seen a lot of similar moments in other videos of yours, namely 14:57 - 15:03 Could you please set your chess software in that way it could shows us moves step by step? Because sometimes it is so hard to watch with understanding what's happening on board because instead move by move it shows two moves almost right away. So when players playing two or three moves it becomes four and six moves almost simultaneously. Other than that I was enjoying with your analysis commentary. You did a great job. Thank you!

Interesting! First everything is blocked. Then.. everything is blocked. And then?! All of a sudden therare Milllions of ways to grab and smash and checkmate. Amazing!

I guess the next game in the Scandinavia in which actually Anand had the initiative but failed to score a point was fatal.

Correction to my last comment. Anand blundered in game 11 by thinking he was winning the exchange with 30. Nb6? That was the move and Anand's lack of time thinking before playing it that Kasparov criticized so strongly. I think Anand had plenty of time on his clock and played 30. Nb6? with very little thought.

Great video! At 10:40 mins in you show why the d5 pawn can not be taken but you move the wrong rook to pin the bishop. If the c rook moves as you show then e7! would keep white in the game (still worse I think but I have a bias to the dragon).
@viraltube09
@viraltube09 8 жыл бұрын
no it is correct if e7 then rook fe8 is coming which is actually pinning the pawn from capturing the rook
@Cyst11
@Cyst11 2 жыл бұрын
@@viraltube09 Sure, but then there is no pawn to capture the bishop after it is defended; whilst attacking with the other rook wins the full piece. Not sure why you'd argue this point when GM King himself noted the mistake in the comment section.

Hello Daniel, at 09:45 in the video the black pawn on E5 gets taken by a white pawn moving to E6. Had the black pawn actually been on E6?

Grand-Maitre, after 1.PxP PQ4! 2.BxP isn't the correct move RKB1-RQ1 in stead of RQB1-Q1 because of P-K7 and although black has compensation after NxB, with the other rook on Q1 this would nog be necessary
@alfino123

My apologies in advance, I'm just a beginner, so I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I can't spot what it is. At the variation showed at 10:40, when Black moves his rook to d1, pinning white's bishop against his queen, why is not possible for White to advance his pawn to e7 forking both black rooks, and if Rxd5 attacking White's queen, then the exf8=Q+ gaining one tempo to move the queen and trading a rook for a bishop and a pawn?
