The PCH Custom Rods utilize advanced technologies to create refined, powerful rods with both exceptional feel and rock solid durability. The PCH Custom Series Rods were designed with the latest technology and insight from leading fishermen around the country. The backbone to the PCH Custom Rods is the patented blank construction process dubbed Unidirectional Fiber Reinforcement. Owned by an Okuma engineer, the patented process blends unidirectional fiber over 24-ton carbon in the extended tip section of the rod to increase lifting strength and power by as much as 400%. This technology provides for the ultimate in strength without sacrificing sensitivity so that you can feel even the lightest of bites. The PCH Custom Rod lineup applies the UFR blank technology to fifteen key models. Three 7-foot casting rods include Medium, Heavy, and Extra Heavy powers. Three 7-foot 6-inch casting models that include Medium, Heavy, and Extra Heavy powers. Three 8-foot models that include Medium Heavy, Heavy, and Extra Heavy models. Three 9-foot modes that include Medium Heavy, Heavy, and Extra Heavy Powers. The series also features three popping rods designed for long casting and include Medium Heavy, Heavy, and Extra Heavy models all in 7-foot 6-inch lengths with top spinning components. The component system on the PCH Custom Rods are all top notch featuring Fuji K-guides with Alconite inserts on the Medium, Medium Heavy, and Heavy models, as well as ALPS HXH guides with Zirconium inserts on the Extra Heavy models. I just received my new PCH-C-801MH. It"s a beautiful rod that feels sensitive and loads very nicely. I had planned to use an Avet JX reel, but the rod is so light the two together don't feel "perfect". I have an Avet MXJ mounted instead, and I'll try it out on Flathead cats in the next couple of weeks. John mentions in the video "a machined flat reel seat" which is really not the case. There are flat edges on each side of the seat, but my reels don't touch them. The actual seat is a machined curve. It fits my reels perfectly, and is easily the best reel seat on any of my rods. If you want a "flat" mount you may be disappointed. If you want a well made rod this is it.

I’m trying to decide if I should get pch 801mh or scti86xh i found both of them. I’m planning on targeting big yellows and rooster fish down in Cabo. Although it dosent say on the okuma website what lure wait you can through on the pch.

Would you recommend the 9ft MH 15-40 or 20-50 9ft. For throwing surface irons and mega baits to Yellowtail calicos and tuna? @okumafishingtackleusa

9' is always nice, but you definitely don't need to go with that. 8' and even 8'6" will work out great for you. You do gain a little distance on the 9', but once you hook a big Yellow, all the fun goes away on a 9' rod :)

The 10 is a great all around size. Plenty of capacity for live bait, and great for throwing iron.

If Okuma would reply I would appreciate it, I just received my 8 foot PCH heavy, it came with all the components however there must’ve been a big discrepancy because somebody installed the flat side of my ‘Alps real seat’ (backwards) on the back end of the rod which is obviously not in line with the guides. Essentially my rod is not identical in this construction as your spokesman is representing it.

WTG I'd be mighty Proud 2 won that rig & use it on Oceanana Fishing Pier in Atlantic Beach ,NC Get some big king's & also cobia if rays R around. that would be able 2 turn them fm the long run's Very impressed sadly poore than joe dirt twice so don't thin this Ole DAV live long nuff 2 won one but nice dream anyway!! Totally depends on what you will be fishing, but we have been fishing them on the 7 and 8 foot heavy rods pretty regularly.

Sorry you had a bad experience. The Makaira rods are a solid series of rods. Sounds like you may have pulled on a rod that had a nicked blank.

Great Performance Rod for the Money. I ditched my Blackhole Challenger Bank Rod and Bought 2 Okuma PCH Rod out of it! Surely Another Winner from the Sleeping Giant Okuma backed by Best Customer Service like a Shimano Customer Service on Steroids!🎣🎣🎣
