@@gacha_heat_girl580 You would most likely have to remove the key cap as seen here, then inspect the retainer clip for damage. If its damaged, you would need to replace it. If its not damaged, then reattach it as seen here.

Thank you! My T key actually came off and I couldn't tell how to fix it. The retainer clip had actually snapped out and was inside the cap. I was able to separate them and then put it back together.

Everything went well. When removing the mechanism, I recommend applying pressure forward (from the touchpad towards the screen) so that the upper latches pop out easier

this is really helpful. I have an HP Laptop and the keyboard feels SO cheap. I had a basic Toshiba laptop before this and the keyboard was much more "luxurious" feeling even after I had it for 6 years. So these HP keys are getting stuck and I'm here to learn how to replace them.

That's the truth. My zbook17 was over 4K when I bought it over 7 years ago, and safe to say the cost didn't go into the keyboard. Used an external for years so didn't care, but have to use the onboard for the moment and it's awful! Will go back to external ASAP. Thanks for the video, hope I never need to do this.

If the key assembly is not installing correctly, its either due to a component being damaged and needing to be replaced or a component not being orientated correctly. I would disassemble the key as seen here in this video and inspect for damage. If there is no damage, install the key. If there is damage, replace the key. Would you like help locating a key? If so, what is the brand and model for your computer?

So my big problem is the retainer and rubber thing is fine, it’s just not clipping back on no matter what I do. I woke up to half the key paint off and it being very very very loose. Someone help me or my mom will kill me.

If your Key Cap is not clicking down in place correctly, it is most likely due to the Retainer Clip not being properly installed or damaged. Remove the Cap and inspect for damage or that its not laying down flush and properly snapped in itself. Compare to another Clip if needed by removing another Cap.

This is helpful, but there's a problem. When i press on the top of my keycap, the bottom part keeps popping off, and the entire key cap comes off with the retainer on it. I need help, because it's really annoying and frustrating when this happens.

THANK YOU - I had trouble because the inner two parts came loose, one was stuck on the actual key while the other was still on the computer surrounding the rubber button thingy. After I figured that out I took the smaller one out of my key, took the larger one out of the board, stuck them together, put them on the board, and connected the key. THANK YOU-- I was really worried for a few minutes here.

my double you key broke and i completely freaked out hen i sa the 2 little hite things come off thinking i as gonna have to buy a hole ne keyboard but I'm glad that's not the case. I'm gonna try this out no and hopefully it orks! Edit: It worked!!

hey, I accidently got out the inner component under the key, and it broke off, I managed to keep it back in, but the key is attached only on the top side, and the bottom side is coming off, how do I fix it??
