Thanks my friend, getting back on trail again to get a little closer to finishing The PCT. permit is from horseshoe lake just before Reds Meadow up to Ashland Oregon so 814 miles. I’ll then have exactly 2,200 miles done and can hopefully finish next year. Seems a long time ago when we hiked together doesn’t it? I searched for videos starting at reds on up and you popped up. Wanted to see what my start would be like after Thousand Island Lake which I’ve been too many times. Thanks I enjoyed this one

@@onthetrailwithbart523 I’ve been watching you and yeah you may know I did the whole long trail in Vermont in 2020 and the green tunnel with mostly blocked views, humidity and extremely steep and unmaintained trail were real. Proud of you!

Just found this channel and the content is great. My wife and I are new to Northern California and can you suggest some core items to keep in our pack for day hikes out here? We are curious about bears, mountain lions, rattlers, etc and how you've delt with encountering them. We've loved the area so far and got married in Yosemite Valley last fall. Good luck with your camping conversion van again too!

Thanks! I've only seen one bear in all the time I've hiked in the Sierra Nevadas. He was HUGE, but bolted away as soon as he saw us. I probably will never see a mountain lion, they're too shy and probably know I'm there 1/2 mile away. Only seen one rattle snake. I just keep trail alert. They're very shy too, if they feel you coming they'll go back to their safety den. There are more rattle snakes by my house than there ever will be at 8000 feet. I'll have to make what to take in a Day Pack.

On the Trail with Bart great info thanks! I think a day pack video would be beneficial to a lot of us. I am trying to get to your level but so far I'm still day tripping. Anyway great content on here, do you have any other social media like Instagram where you share pictures from these beautiful locations or your primary outlet is here? Good luck on the continued van renovation, I'm starting to consider that as an option if I can convince my wife to get onboard with that project. Fingers crossed! Have a great day!

Thanks for sharing this video well done! I was planning to do this in July 2019, via JMT route but I got denied for the permit. Is it difficult to obtain permit for PCT route. Any advice or suggestion. Thanks

The minimum PCT permit is 500 miles in length. Maybe like a Walker Pass to Truckee section.

Please give DATE of this segment. That 'hard data' is very useful for getting an idea of now levels, esp when used to clarify snow levels for current year compared with a similar year on CA state snow-water content graphs: cdec.water.ca.gov/reportapp/javareports?name=PLOT_SWC.pdf

KM is around PCT mile 700. Tuolumne is about 943. Just go into www.pcta.org/discover-the-trail/maps/. Then go down and clic HalfMile Waypoints. Then zoom in to what ever section you want and clic on the bubble to see the PCT mile.
