I hope you enjoyed your ride up to Reno. That run up 395 is one of the most beautful drives along the Sierra Eastern Escarpment. I am so happy you made the flip. Enjoy NorCal. Be safe; keep at it! P.S. -- Be glad for the flip. On an average year you'd get to this area several weeks later with triple-digit temps ... 😱

Mrs. Rumbles, in video Day 74 & 75 they mentioned not being able to monetize their channel because of the new regulations. However, there are many other hiking vloggers that have a link on their channel to the Buy Me a Coffee app. The donated funds can be used for anything...to buy themselves a coffee, resupply, or in their case they can donate the funds to the Alzheimer's association as they mentioned. Just a thought.

Unfortunately, that still goes against the rules of needing a permit to film in National Parks. Any monetization, regardless of where the funds are going, is against the law. Some lawyers have even interpreted the new law as NO filming whatsoever, even if the channel is not monetized, because KZbin and TikTok, etc, can make money. A lot of people still monetize their channels, and nothing happens. I don't think the National Park system can monitor everything being posted online, but a couple of RV lifers have been fined and banned from National Parks for filming without permits. So, for some folks, it's just not worth the risk.

Thank you for showing this area. Belden’s festival is quite the thing. It’s best you got going there is some interesting folks that go there for that. It will be packed. Belden and Quincy were thankfully spared from the fire. Just about everything else is gone for so many miles. That area was the first place I backpacked in high school in the 70’s. So sad to see the destruction. I live about an hour from Lassen Park and Im sick to see so much of the beautiful eastern area gone. Be safe.

Thanks for the great video(s). Do not worry there are more than enough mosquitoes for everyone. Thank the heavy snow winter with lots of standing water. I love the sierras in the later summer there are fewer mosquitoes. Northern CA has lower elevations except for Mt Shasta. Soon you will see Lassen NP with hot springs and lava tubes, Yes a few years ago there were huge wild fires in Northern CA. Watch out for the ash all over the ground.

Micro spikes will def come in handy but the good thing about snow is it makes it too cold for flies to fly. They need at least 60 degrees for them to be able to fly but I’d rather do bug nets than postholing in the slushy snow. You’ll hit blow downs but that was happening in the sierras down below the tree line too. Nor Cal is really beautiful. And hopefully you won’t have to deal with a heat wave on the hat creek rim. It’s exposed and no water sources except water caches from trail angels here and there. Take care through the burn sections. Be safe. Thanks for posting your adventures.

Good travel day to Quincy and back on trail! The festival looked like it would be fun. Festivals are one of the best things about summer. The hiking looks good and a lot less treacherous than what you guys had been doing. Take care.

I found a video of a guy who went through the Sierra to Mammoth and the amount of water was insane. That was probably the biggest hurdle if you kept going. Glad to see you back on dirt.

We luv durt!!! We don't like snow or bugs. I thought the early morning hikes were over, but now you have to beat the heat! Sounds like climate shock. Go slow the first few days and stay hydrated! Let your bodies acclimate to the heat. Hope Hazel is feeling better. Stay safe out there.

Swapping snow for heat and flies. But at least you have dirt. I hope Hazel is recovering. Weird that you go from one extreme to another. Another great vlog from the Codgers & now Hazel too.

We just got back from Convict Lake near Mammoth lakes after 8 days and nights. Much of the snow is melted. However, the creek is a raging stream with lots of standing water and many very hungry mosquitoes, This summer is like spring with lots of standing water. Again, many hungry mosquitoes. DEET does work. Just a few drops in a zip lock plastic bag with a neckerchief inside. It is the vapor from the DEET permeating the material. Just rub that neckerchief on your face, neck, head and anywhere else. Mosquitoes do not like the smell of DEET.

Unfortunately, you'll be dealing with burn areas for most of Norcal. A lot of fires the past few years. So you got to Belden in time for one of their raves.

I’m happy to see Beldon Town didn’t burn in that last big fire storm a couple of years ago. It is hotter than hades up there but you all will figure out how to deal with that next challenge. Enjoy the snow free times ahead.

Keep your hiking poles inside the tent the deer are salt driven they will chew up the straps and the handles… and lick your sweaty shirts..

I met a very skinny guy from England who was walking into a town up in that area. A deer had taken his shirt off of his tent in the night and had chewed holes in it. The deer are no joke up in those areas. Salt is a driver.
