PCT 2023 - Day 87 - Stevens Pass - The End of my hike.

Day 87
I didn't know it then, but unfortunately this was my last day on the PCT.
I limped into Stevens Pass on my last Ibuprofen and when it wore off, i realised that my knee was far worse than i thought.
I did a resupply in the Safeway in Leavenworth and nearly didn't make it back to the hotel because my legs kept buckeling under me.
So i had to face the truth: it was not safe to start another section.
I stayed in Leavenworth for 4 days and then decided to get on a bus to Seattle.
The knee very slowly starts getting a tiny bit better but i still cannot stand or walk for a longer time and stairs or uneven ground is difficult.
So this is suddenly the end of my hike.
To be honest, it was very difficult to wrap my head around it. But then I had a good cry and and decided to fly home, see my doctor and hopefully will be able to have another adventure this summer.
And hopefully I will get another shot at a thruhike in the future. :)

Oh, my! After your episode 86 I was "away from the keyboard." Just came back, and was sorry to see that your knee required you to get off trail. At the same time, as difficult as it must have been, I'm glad you made the wise choice. I've been watching your videos since your departure from home and the start in Campo. They were always so enjoyable to watch. I've just noticed some new videos from Europe, so I guess that means you are feeling better. That's good news!! Looking forward to your further adventures. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Thank you for sharing your journey and making the effort to upload videos. That's added chores to do at the end of a big day of walking (or to fit in with town chores while you're running about washing and resupplying 😂) Thankfully you were able to pull the pin on your thru hike from a town and not in the middle of nowhere. I watched every single one of your videos beginning day 1, I enjoyed them all, they all brought a smile to my face. Thank you so much! I am sorry to hear about your injury, I too attempted the pct in 2021 and picked up an injury, but I can assure you that you will never forget the time on trail that you did have and all of the people you met. The adventures do indeed continue. Be well.

Sabine, I am so sorry your hike has come to such an abrupt and painful end. I have enjoyed every video, you have had such an adventure, what an experience! Well, this was my last day on the PCT for 2023. If I get the chance, I will try to hike it again. The reason is in the description. 😅

So sorry i have had the same thing happen on a hike but healed up and started over from the start and completed a thru hike you are young and have time and probably learned a lot that will help your next hike.
