I live 5 miles from the end of the trail. If I leave my house and go in the woods at the end of my street and follow some of our local side trials. I can be at the Decker shelter area in under 3 miles.

Fischer at 3:30! I've only ever seen 1 in over 1000+ miles of PA trails. It was along the Bucktail path.

We have fishers up here near Erie, haven't seen any on trail but I've seen them in my yard and on the side of the road

I have a nearly identical tent. The Tarptent notch. One thing to be aware of, is if you decide to do a summit hike, and camp is already setup, you’ll have decide if you need the same poles which are holding your tent up. That alone has discouraged me from some summit hikes unfortunately.

I live out in the Pittsburgh area too. Let me tell you, when the REI in Robinson shut down, that was a sad day. Nothing else like it that’s close by.

Wow, you sure had better weather than I did. I just did a 5 day hike of the LHHT the first week of April (First time) and the weather was, dare I say, dynamic... Rain, a thunderstorms, sleet, and finally snow. Pretty cold nights too, but I had a pretty good time and looking back now, the weather made it a memorable first hike of the LHHT.

Hey Frozen. Enjoy your videos, great job. I just had the same problem with my Garmin InReach Mini 2 a few days ago on the Black Forest trail. No reception to send out a 'check in' msg. No leaf cover and in the open. Was wondering if you leave the unit on while hiking? I don't but I talked to Garmin and they said that might help?? Anyway, enjoy the PCT.

Hey Jason, hopefully your water filter didn't freeze up and give you issues. I had the same thing happen to me when the weather got colder than anticipated, thankfully I got home before I came down with the 'Hershy Squirts"! Ended up losing about 15 pounds from that one. (fun, fun, fun!) LOL

Gee, i never had a small canister rust. I seem to use them up before they rust. I don't like the condensation that get on the bottom.

Hi. Question for you…and sorry if you addressed this in a previous video, but how do you know the temp reached 32 degrees last night? I’ve tried a few different ways of keeping track of temps thru the night but haven’t found anything reliable and accrue ate. Anything type of thermometer that is kept in my tent or on me (like a watch) gets distorted by my body heat. I’d love to know a better way…thanks!

My pixel 8 pro has a surface temperature thermometer in it. It's been pretty accurate when compared with other thermometers.
