We install an oil separator for or 2005 Chevy Silverado with a 4.8L V8. There are a lot of videos out there that tell people to delete their provisions and run a breather. That is not recommended because you may send false readings to the MAF sensor as you're letting unmetered air into the engine because you're bypassing the MAF. Watch the video where we show you can keep the PCV system closed and still be able to remove oil from the system to keep your intake manifold clean.

So then I wouldn't need to cap off valve cover port just run oil cap seperator and valve body port to a T barb but then putting a inline filter before T barb on valve body side then both would go to the T then into the TB breather port or would this cause problems?

No because you can eliviate the pressure, the engine won't be as efficient and the piston rings can't seal as well. The PCV system is actually really good except for it puts oil vapour back into the intake.

Serious question- Is it possible to use 2 oil separators (1 for each valve cover) and plumb it so that when the crank is in a vaccum it uses the air from the tbss manifold connection on top for metered fresh air into the valve covers BUT when at wot and crank pressure is building it reverses air flow and uses both oil separators before forcing air into the tbss manifold connection??? The separators would obviously need to be able to flow both ways and am wondering if anyone has ever tried this or something similar to upgrade theier pcv system??? Any input on upgrading the pcv system over stock would be great 👍 thx In my mind this is still metered air from the intake that could go into valve covers through the that could be used for high vacccduring higbut also allow for reverse air flow into the intake when

This side of the PCV system only really does anything under wide open throttle. The separator keeps the oil under the valve cover, but allows pressure from the crankcase to go somewhere.
@jewllake
@jewllake 4 жыл бұрын
I have that set up in my 2018 Sierra. Be careful with the double 0 rings. The metal lid fits too tight on the plastic and the 0-rings get cooked and brittle and they break off and could fall inside the valve cover. I sanded the hole in the plastic larger and only use one 0-ring instead of two. The cap sits tight and still seals well. You can buy a packet of 20 high temp 0 rings at home depot to keep as spares once the original 0 rings get old and crusty.

@@AnthonyJ350 Just pull straight up on the metal cap with the barbed hose fitting. The plastic adapter that took the place of the oil cap stays in place. That's how it's supposed to work. On mine the tolerance between the two was too tight so i sanded the opening on the plastic adapter larger. Otherwise the rubber 0-rings were being stretched and twisted and would break apart. Fortunately none fell inside. Probably not a bad Idea to replace them every other oil change.
