My car -A3 2.0TFSI - Just in case anyone is experiencing the same symptoms as me. This may help. I had the “whistling “ sound and a slight loss of boost which got louder and louder. So I bought an OEM PCV valve and gasket from Audi , which was £61 and cured it immediately! Best £61 I ever spent , feels like a new car. The PCV is the latest revision , the part number should have, R at the end. Don’t cut corners and buy copies. Get the real thing.

@Mudig it was horribly expensive and time consuming and a month later my car started to leak again but very very little compared to how it did before, but still no check engine light or hissing noise from the pcv so at this point I give up lol because I can’t even begin to understand why it’s behaving like this

Hi, I am having a check engine light, I showed it to mechanic and he said it's the front breather hose leak. I also checked that when I close the inlet of pcv valve, which you put the nail, i hear a light whistling sound. What do you think, is it pcv valve or breather hose? Should there be a whistling noise by default when closing the small inlet, or is it the pcv valve failing. Thanks

Carlos Franklin that's exactly why I started to watch this video
@JoelinoPT6 жыл бұрын
Well, PCV can be responsable of a lot of problems. But to diagnose it can be very easy or hard (depends of your skills/tools). Usually PCV will cause vacuum leak or a lean engine (too much air for combustion) and it will cause problems. Bad PCV will have direct consequences in your Engine operation. These are typical symptoms (not exclusive) of a bad PCV that can be only one ou multiple of it: - A loud or noticeable whistle (the loudness depends how bad it is) - Very rough Idle - Misefires (can be only one cylindre or more) SPECIALLY in idle and very few or none misefires when you drive in higher load - Black smoke coming from exhaust (Oil Burn) - Engine Oil consumption higher than normal/acceptable - Oil leak in the PCV piece itself (sometimes can be nasty) - Less Engine Power and response in low revs - Poor gas economy - Hard to start the cold engine in cold weather (close or bellow freezing temps) If you can do the repair yourself (which is easy), it's fairly cheap. Exists 6 versions of this PCV (5 revisions). The last one, and the better at the moment, have this part number: 06F129101R
@naimosman96995 жыл бұрын
system too lean code P2187 because of this too much vacuum blows out rear main seal, or valve cover gasket. which costs ten times more than pcv

The P0171 code on a Volkswagen Passat will often be thrown if the fuel injection system is not operating properly. Typically the code will be triggered by a lean condition in the engine. John Junior
@DailyRitualW4r10ck5 жыл бұрын
John Junior Here are the typical symptoms that something is wrong when you have code P0171. Mileage- may or may not suffer depending on how much the air fuel mixture has changed. Misfire- If the air fuel mixture has gotten too far from factory specs, this can cause the Passat to misfire. Idle Issues- With the air/fuel mixture altered, the vehicle can idle erratically as the computer compensates to keep the engine running.

Possible fault cause - Incorrect main charge signal - Intake air system leaking - Fuel pressure too low - Volume supply of fuel pump too low - Mechanical fault in injection valves - PCV valve leaks - Cap of oil filler neck leaking - Leaks in exhaust system - EVAP canister purge valve mechanically faulty (hangs open) - EVAP canister purge valve output stage faults Check the gas cap too. Check oil filler cap as well.

Just been in touch with the dealership today who has been really helpful told me they have done the pcv and main seal and software update. How successful is this stage one fix? I'm not to confident with the amount of oil it was using. Is this likely to fix it? Thanks.

Hi TB. I live in the UK and had the same issue on a 2011 B8 A5 2.0 tfsi. The first fix (like you've had done) works to a degree, but fundamentally, Audi messed up with the piston ring material on petrol vehicles vehicles between 2009 & 2011. I had to have my engine rebuilt by Audi, with new pistons, rings, con rods etc fitted. That worked a treat and 90,000 miles later the engine is still using minimal oil

According to the VW shop manual, the T-30 bolts securing the valve are 11Nm which converts to 8lb ft. (Of course it's academic since most torque wrenches are not going to be that exact anyway) Of equal importance, is the tightening sequence should be more or less a star or crossing pattern like when you're tightening up tires.
