Best thing ever was the fail in the AMD makeover at LTT…Oh man it wouldn’t post because it couldn’t run EXPO 6000 ram. Linus being a professional was like ohh we might have to do a bios update and then it cuts and they come back and it’s running….BRO that’s a new AM5 mobo, you shouldn’t need a bios update to get that ram to run at 6000. I’ll bet 50$ he never got it to work and isn’t running EXPO OR he tried to boot 20x until eventually it did and he never shut it back down for the whole video. Their crap memory controller is a scam too, half the time it doesn’t even work at 6000, which is worse than low timing DDR4…Wtf is the point? Like I have never seen that before where a new chip comes out and it doesn’t support and will never support the fastest ram that was available at the time of its launch. Also one that was LATE to the game. I would expect their memory controller to at least be on par with 12th gen, but it’s not and came out with 13th gen. That’s the bigger scam I’m surprised nobody is talking about, they should say we support DDR5 at DDR4 speeds. Software might fix the scheduler but you ain’t doing a software fix on a piece of crap memory controller. 6000mhz is the best you will ever get. Whole generation of ram left and you are stuck with what was available in the first 4 months. 6 months from now when you’ll be able to get 7200mhz CL20 on Intel AMD will still be struggling with 6000 CL32.

The amount of influence and intervention these companies have over reviewers is disgusting. The Samsung 990 pro was literally failing for many people. Drives would literally go from 100% capacity to 95% capacity within a week under normal use and barely a peep from the tech reviewer space. Guys like gamer's nexus or linus tech tips who brag about having testing equipment and labs didn't even investigate the claims despite the problem being discussed over months on online forums and reddit. That should have been one of the biggest stories of the year and nothing. And now this debacle with AMD. What a dirty business...

The 3d vcache chip is only like $10 worth of silicon to add some solid extra performance in some scenarios & maintain profit margins by restoring cpu costs. This is actually a cheap modular way of upgrading a cpu without fully designing a brand new cpu. The 7900x3d is a complete waste. They should have only released the 7800x3d & a dual vcache 7990x3d versions. This way, the scheduling issues wouldn't exist, & you could get the best of both worlds without the drawbacks.

If what Frame Chasers is saying wrong then Gordon needed to debunk what is wrong point by point, vaguely referencing the title of a Frame Chasers video in his own title and cherry picking some points with no real context makes no sense, the 5800X3D made sense in terms of a cheaper way to max out the AM4 platform with DDR4 RAM, without knowing what XMP, etc is. If AMD only made one 3D CPU (and not three) they could have avoided all this but instead we have these gAmEr CPUs that demand you do all this work that the previous AM4 CPU never did. Either wait for the 7800X3D or just go with intel (DDR4 or DDR5), overclock or not, disable ecores as needed, enable XMP, etc and not have to worry about whitelists and Xbox Game Bar.

I think your point about these tech reviewers not being gamers in their spare time is spot on. In one of the recent vids with Gordon and Wendell they asked why people are complaining about having to use Windows Gamebar to make the CPU work "correctly". Which is really strange because I bet every single tech youtuber has a 15 minute tutorial about all the windows bloatware you should disable after install. Honestly, who wants to mess around in a windows program most people don't know exist and, as far as I can tell, doesn't actually do anything. Even then it's not an elegant solution because it depends on the software detecting if it's a 'game'; who wants to check every time they boot up a game if some windows bloatware correctly labeled the game as a game. And then you also have the problem where some games don't want to be labeled games because they run better with the higher frequency cores than the vcache cores. In what way is this acceptable for a mainstream computer component? And then they end their video by saying "of course we recommended that people just wait for the 7800x3d". Then why do 5 videos defending the 7900/7950x3d?

Too many of the 7950x3D reviews seemed like AMD sponsored reviews. They would only test the cherry picked games that AMD does best at. The larger reviews pretty much come to a conclusion that it’s a wash and there is no real winner between the 13900k/s and 7950x3D. They both have games they do well in and don’t do as well in. However, I feel like the built in Intel scheduler is a much better solution, that you just don’t have to worry about or mess with. With the 7950x3D you are essentially a beta tester. I’m really enjoying my 13900ks system and 4090 GPU. I only play at 4k ultra settings, which is where the 13900k tends to be best at.

I was a long time AMD fan through the Athlon xp years but got sick of getting screwed and lied to in the FX years. Recently finally went back for another taste with an all AMD system and it's the most unstable inconsistent mess I've owned in a decade. USB disconnects constantly. CPU hangs constantly like it's putting cores to sleep but they take 5-10 seconds to wake back up, gets stuck in different modes that requires a full reboot to clear out. Back in the day I probably wouldn't even care but after a solid decade of only i7 desktops and laptops that everything worked perfectly it stands out bad.

That´s what I have said for a long time, most of the techtubers rarely play games or don´t play at all, they might have 1 older game they play now and then, and call themself "gamers", It´s ridiculous, I wanna see their steam log, on how many hours they play/month, I bet none of them have more than 10h/month. They don´t play 95% of the games they benchmark, that´s also why when Framechasers do a benchmark, it´s different from other big techtubers, because he actually used something else than the build-in benchmark many games have and some drivers are optimized for. Another reason this channel is so good, real benchmarks and real world usage :) I lost respect for PC World a long time ago, it´s not the first time they do this shit, many probably don´t remember but they did this shit with Nvidia GPU´s and Intel CPU some years ago, I don´t get the hype about Gordon, he´s knowledge is not something special and he never brings something different from other techtubers, all he have is the legacy from when pc world was a magazine.

I've been building PCs for quite a while, admittedly starting with a Pentium 3, so a lot or the hurdles had been solved but I do think part of PC gaming, for me at least, is the building and customising side of your setup, choosing the components, learning how to put them together, understanding what they do and how to get the best out of them. How deep you go in the bios is up to you, but its not really an excuse just to say it should just work like a console, pc gaming has never been like that, from setting old school jumpers for fsb, to turning xmp on, there's always something to learn about pc gaming that you usually have to put into practice to get your system optimised, even with pre builds. In a way installing the White list drivers isn't that much different to me than all the other hoops pc gamers have to jump through. I'm not disagreeing about the 8 core 3d cache situation, as for the price.. gees wheres the rest of it! Guess what I'm saying ultimately though is, I know there's always people who can't be arsed, but they probably should educate them selves, its so much better these days but a pc isn't always going to work to its full potential out the box and new technologies will always bring challenges.

You are just a minority in the gamer group, who passionate in chasing every single fps gain. Most gamers would enjoy their game instead of tinkering with the setup. IMHO, they are both worthy for their amount of subscribers and viewers. For your channel to grow, you have to jump out of the really limited space of crazy overclocking that only interest the minority people. And honestly, the only value of your contents is just the few seconds of fps/frame dips exposed, pretty much that's it. You are spending 80% of your team overclocking for 20% contributing to your youtube channel, while the other youtubers are spending 20% of the time for 80% youtube growth. Nothing is wrong with the 7950X3D. It's a great CPU. The thing is that the 7800X3D does essentially the same thing for gaming for people that don't care about the extra cores. The 7800X3D was obviously delayed to get some early sales on the impatient who would have gotten the cheaper CPU if they were released at the same time. That isn't a surprising tactic, just look at GPUs. At least it was only a month and not longer.

Perspective is very important in this business, and you're right that a lot of reviewers seem out of touch. It's weird that they generally stick with XMP since they don't expect regular users to do memory tuning, but then turn around and downplay this core scheduling problem.

@@zachhayes4954 This one for one, and I was taking a serious Intel fanboy to task one day, can't remember the channel name, but it was an AMD content piece with its usual number of Intel fanatics saying their piece. I see a pretty even split amongst the fanboy camps, I think AMD maybe more vocal, just because these were customers tired of being treated like crap by Intel for so many years with pathetic yearly performance increases. Grudges die hard I guess.

There are tons of KZbinrs that are calling out tech companies. Look at Gamers Nexus’s, they are one of the biggest channels and they drill companies and call out everything. You say youtubers are gate keeping but you’re doing the same thing gate keeping saying something is a scam and calling out big tech. I’ve been subscribed for about a year now. I’ve got a 13900ks z790 system and a new unopened 7950x3D that I’m thinking of taking back to Microcenter. Since it performs worse by a good bit in my favorite online shooter; BF2042. I see so many amateur benchmarked videos of the 7950x3D on KZbin right now. You have to take their numbers with a huge pinch of salt 🧂 since you don’t know what drivers, chipsets, BIOS, some settings they may or may not be using. Also, a lot of them will just stick the same exact low frequency DDR5 ram they use in their AMD system, in the competing 13900k/ks which just handicaps the CPU. You also don’t know if their BIOS settings are tilted in favor of one brand or the other. For instance if a KZbinr sets a power constraint on the 13900k in the BIOS or not. Or will they be forthright and give it unlimited power usage for its turbo parameters. You just don’t know these things most of the time.

@@anthbobo2783 there were several benchmarks from multiple reviewers where at default settings in some games it would do about the same performance as a regular 7950x. It took disabling CCD1 in the bios to correct the issue. If I decided to use the 7950x3D as my main gaming system, I would disable CCD 1 and just make it a glorified 7800x3D.
