In this webinar, Libby Hill - Speech & Language Therapist (SALT) from Smalltalk, looks at the difficulties that individuals with PDA may experience with speech and language; even though difficulties in this area may not be obvious at first, and how this can affect behaviour? Libby also discusses the benefits of a full speech and language assessment and how regular therapy from a SALT can help individuals with PDA.
An extended question and answer session with Libby and PDA Society Trustees follows. Recorded in August 2017
Please note: this webinar was recorded in 2017, it may therefore contain some outdated language and terminology.

Thank you for these webinars, I'm realizing so much about myself, thank you for giving me perspectives, tools, an explanation for the bits of me i bury and beat finally helping me feel less desperately confused about continuously being told im evil or selfish and struggling to understand how i could possibly give more and why everyone says that, turns out they need a song and dance to see any of what you do and were always going to take from you because evidently a great majority think if they can take from you then you deserve to be taken from & here i was operating under the golden rule until i break just trying to isolate and catch a break never able to take care of myself realizing i dont know what hunger feels like only when its nausea late, i never learned what any sensation was.. im frustrated this is what i need, that all this time trying to find an efficient way to live so many answers were there! just not available to me, im excited to understand, i decided to give and then off myself because i couldnt imagine a life worth living but now, now knowing ok it isnt this ridiculously debilitating to exist, just the way i was forced to exist, yes the world is awful but not as bad as family. cold uncaring manipulative only taking screaming youre the problem beat you till they are tired even when you go quiet & still, you know the expected painful love of family.

@@mspckls1057 good on you for posting your story. You are helping loads of others by doing this. Loads of other people haven't got the guts to post like you have, you are not just a sufferer, you are a therapist as well

DONT MERELY GET YOUR PDA'ER TO OBEY, TEACH THEM, EXPLAIN, IF YOU CARE. About getting them to talk about one of their favorite topics then feigning interest, even if i noticed, you asked ME a question its about the question and me if you wanted me to be concerned with you you shouldn't have approached it that way, you signed up for me to talk when you asked, why be cruel and let me go on if you want me to stop, interrupt tell me you lost interest what you want to do about it pick a new topic walk away and we can move on with our damn lives no shame or wasted time for anyone! but no thats what would be irrational & too much work, so people fake interest and then make fun and judge and whisper about it with everyone EXCEPT you & you know the vibe is different but have no idea why and noone will tell you and so you operate like things are fine and still the vibe sucks so you ask again actually valuing the family or friends involved & your relationship and still they refuse to tell you what's wrong but you find out they talk amongst themselves all the time about everything you needed to know in order to be who they needed but instead they chose to keep the information from you beat you when you got too much in the way and laugh as you flounder for 32 years while making sure to steal any bit of good i created in my own life, money? must go to the family youre selfish for wanting to exist think of the kids! since im 11 my mom found the magic words, for the kids, and all of society backed it up so there they put the weight of children on my back while everyone around is a neglectful abusive asshole and i only know about babies through movies and books and now here i am never got to look at how i feel how things effect me i dont think i took a full breath until i was 30.
