I have a pound bag with a 2L water bladder plus bring 2 bottles of water with me during the hot rounds. Refill if it’s a double round. Not that hard to be prepared.

Unbelievable.. I played in MP65 at this years Pro Masters as they are referring to. It's embarrassing that people don't take responsibility for their own well being. I brought 2 frozen bottles plus water bottle. If you know you're succestable to heat stroke then you need to take care of yourself. People are so quick to blame others for their own problems...so tired of it.

What if those old times run out? there should be enough available to refill your bottles. But there was not, there weren't any port o potties either. Caddy books were held back until the last seconds before tournament. It would seem the PDGA either was incompetent? or just didn't want to let players practice the layouts. The rain and flooding really helped to overshadow the failures of the PDGA on this event. Whew... I bet they are happy for that.

Yeti don’t ever think that those catalyst moments weren’t really catalyst. The sport of disc golf is STILL just beginning. The best years are ahead for our sport. Gannon Buhr, Anthony Barela and many more of the great young stars in our game get to run because your crew walked. They get to demand a consistent target, proper warm up areas, pre-round privacy from fans because y’all demanded consistent signage, teepads, and clear ob markings. Thank you for your mark on the game.

Hosting an event where you know you have participants who arent used to this kind of weather, you need to be vigilant. Safety first. Especially Masters, since our body's ability to handle extreme heat diminishes as we get older.

Simply put the PDGA needs a comprehensive checklist they run down each event, weeks before the event each item gets assigned someone to do it. If something falls through they know exactly who was supposed to do that thing and who dropped the ball, TD is checking things off as they are done. Cant just remember what to do on a complex operation like this. As far as water... being able to fill up whatever personal water bottle I brought twice in an 18 hole course... sounds like they did exactly what they needed to. Are people expecting jugs with throw away cups at each hole? Do they not bring some sort of bottle in the bag?

So, I played a local C-Tier this past weekend in Shelby County, AL and we had two rounds on Sat and a final round on Sun. It was 97 degrees outside with a heat index of 104. Our TD's had full coolers of iced down waters on the courses in mutiple locations extra tents setup in open fields, plus the courses were manicured with clear ob lines with signage. Just here to shoutout Shelby County Disc Golf for putting on a great tournament in massive heat. *Note you cant carry all the water or liquid you need in a bag. I was carrying about 60 ounces with me...i needed those extra 30 to 40 ounces to pickup on the course.

@larryburge3567 I would tell even with the extra water I had...I was still cramping and going into heat exhaustion by hole 13 of the second round. If there is water on the course at the turn of 8 and 11 then...I don't see the issue. Other than it was too hot for player x,y,z to continue. We had a player on our card who 5 holes into round 2 about went down. It wasn't from the lack of hydrating it was just too freaking hot. Age and conditioning have a lot to do with it.

The PDGA collected $77,850 in AM registrations (519 x $150) and on the PRO side $83500 (334 x $250) Total of $161,350. And the PDGA couldn't provide water/port o potties/caddy books/bibs or even an itinerary for the DD shop to hand out? It was low energy, low effort and cheaped out. No wonder people Hate on the PDGA.

I dont fault the pdga or dgpt for this. What i do have a beef with is dgpt's "Live Ace Runs" coverage. Sticking a camera 30' from a shorter hole and calling it a day is not good coverage. Ive been watching for 35 mins now amd saw one couple play the hole, not even a 4 person card. Wth? They need to go back to live coverage of the tourmey on Sunday's.

Its not only tied to the pdga unfortunately I feel like this is just a symptom of bad prioritization from TDs. Just played a B tier in an open park 95 degrees and 60% humidity, no water anywhere because the TD was too busy setting up a "block party".

It's not the TDs job to provide you water
@AustinTheNarwhal
@AustinTheNarwhal Ай бұрын
@@michaelmaniloff9297 it's customary, almost every single tournament I have played in provides places to refill water, especially in high temperatures. It's not about them giving you all the water you need for the whole day but it's their responsibility to make sure everyone is safe for "their" event, and if it's super hot and you can only carry 40-50 ounces of water with your bag generally, you probably need to refill... And you can't leave mid round to get more. Also water is basically free to refill all they have to supply is the jug/tote w/e it is they get. But they should do what they can to make sure it's accessible.
@michaelmaniloff9297
@michaelmaniloff9297 Ай бұрын
@AustinTheNarwhal They are playing one round per day. I'm just not buying it. Bring the water you need for 18 holes. Or bring a Caddy to carry a little extra water. It's our own responsibility to ensure our own safety. The athletes know their bodies and should know how to manage their own well-being. Let me get it straight. We think it's the governing body's responsibility to "keep us safe." We are unable to manage our own safety for 18 holes? Never mind that the tournament was struggling to adjust courses due to flooding. Getting that stuff right, that's their job. If you can't stay safe for 18 holes, that's on you. Whatever issues an athlete has had with heat stroke or hot flashes is their responsibility to manage for 18 holes.

@@michaelmaniloff9297 it actually is, that's what everyone is missing in these comments, and why Des n Jay are on this program. The PDGA has a water policy for tournaments it's tied to the blanket insurance policy the PDGA provides for sanctioned tourneys. They were just trying to shine some light on the hypocrisy of requiring a water policy and the PDGA not adhering to it during a Major.
@theairportstuff

@@michaelmaniloff9297 The flooding helped to overshadow the incompetence of the tournament preparation. PDGA is probably happy for the flooding because then all of the other mismanaged bits fell to the wayside. This was produced worse than a c-tier flex event. at best.

I bring a cooler full of all my drinks and food to my tournaments. I bring extra cloths and shoes. You can't be blaming anyone else for going to an event not prepared. A lot of pros even have caddies. There is zero excuse for a professional not having what they need... like you are paided to be there. Act like it!
