Revisiting this video in 2023, I still am surprised this wasn't EF5 rated. Not only that, but I'm surprised this wasn't deemed a Tornado Emergency for Rochelle when it happened. Nonetheless, this was probably the most terrifying alert I've ever heard, especially in person, as I was only 10, nearly 11 at the time this aired. I was absolutely terrified, even tho this Tornado was 2 hours away (For Context, I'm in Will County)

I agree with this but I believe the reasoning from the NWS was that while there was an EF-5 indicator there wasn’t enough contextuals to justify the rating around the one but I believe this should be reviewed as I don’t believe there was only 1.

Not their job to make you feel better. Given how many people ignore warnings, it's their job to hopefully scare you enough into taking action and seeking shelter immediately. PDS Tornado Warnings are never issued unless confidence is incredibly high that there's a large and violent tornado on the ground near you. In order for a Tornado warning to even go out in the first place, there needs to be clear evidence of rotation via radar. That'll get you a radar indicated warning. If it's a confirmed warning, someone saw it and reported it and it's on the ground. PDS usually refers to large and violent tornadoes. If there's a Tornado Emergency issued, that means a violent tornado is heading directly for a densely populated area and loss of life is imminent. All Tornado warnings have to be taken seriously. It's the only way lives are saved.

This was the first tornado I had ever seen in person. Scariest moment of my life, which in turn was the reason I’ve been storm chasing since 2020. I never thought when I saw this tornado at 7 years old I would have 19 tornadoes under my belt, and plan to continue to chase for the rest of my life.

I didn't see the PDS Tornado Warning, PDS Tornado Warnings cannot happen in Maryland, It only gets a regular Tornado Warning, On June 16, 2016, It was issued for my county, but not for my area.
