I have the same , absolute same problem!!!! Did you figure out how to fix it?
@philblunt52988 жыл бұрын
I've never seen this, but I've had 6 PDX2000's in the last 15 years and I did have one that would very occasionally just start rotating backwards in the middle of a set. Definately some design faults in there, but great decks when they behave.

Hello DjLIquitATL, Where did you get a new switch? My just stopped turning on and I think it might be a bad switch. Thank you.
@TCowanATL7 жыл бұрын
Eric Tsai that's the most common problem. its a standard 2 position switch. you can get at radio shack or amazon/ebay. if you want the light its an extra couple wires

These look like a very different quality than the early 90s models.
@TCowanATL8 жыл бұрын
Keith Parkhill the turntable itself is a great turntable. just a design flaw with the motor. the newer models dont have the same issue to my knowledge
@keithparkhill42188 жыл бұрын
DjLiquitATL The tonearm is vastly different . The original models used a dynamic balance arm much like a Rega 300 arm only shorter and straight. I don't see the 1500 bucks these cost on that table. Who repairs these now that the company is DOA?
@TCowanATL8 жыл бұрын
Keith Parkhill these were never $1500. you used to be able to find sets for about $300 used before vestax went under. issue with these repairs is that the parts are simply not available anymore.

DjLiquitATL These when first introduced were twice the price of a Technics.

I had another one I had for parts that I used the motor out of... cannot find the motor anywhere to purchase
@sneakerfreakerz1542 жыл бұрын
Mine works only in quartz lock and only for some time, then suddenly the motor slows down just as if you pitched it down slowely with ultra pitch. Same problem with reverse button , it dott work. Once i stop it then press it, it works then starts going crazy. The thing i accidentaly did when i was transporting them is before i packed them i tapped of the platter with same tape in a few places so it wont move in the transport. But then i turned it back on to check if it works and my dumb ass pressed start and it was working 5,6 seconds before i realised what i did. Im pretty sure thats what caused my problem.before that, deck was working just fine...so now i heard someone say to desolder the reverse function from the pcb board and it would solve the problem? I did 4 layers of tape on the bottom.of the shaft and put some lube...helped a little but not much, as i said in the middle of listening it starts slowing down..then i need to quickly power off and power on and press start again to regain the momentum and fix it... Anyone knows how to fix this issue without replacing the motor or ic chip?
@TCowanATL2 жыл бұрын
Idk. If you can find a motor I would just replace it but they are hard to find now. I doubt the board got messed up from the platter being taped down and you accidentally pressing the start button. You could just take the platter off and disassemble the motor and make sure everything is the way it is supposed to be. While you have it open you can lube the spindle. I use gun oil for my spindles and fader tracks and it works great

@tietajajoshua8 жыл бұрын
Ask and you will find knowledge. Now the vestax pdx has a motor, and a sensor wheel that feeds back the speed to the motor controller. If you take the back off, cut the glue around the back of the motor and lever off the back plate, you will find a dirty ball bearing, so clean it with a cleaning lubricant spray, replace the washer on it, and screw back on the back plate. This will solve the speed issue. The other issue is the reverse mode, which has a fault and should lock out during playback.
@TCowanATL8 жыл бұрын
tietajajoshua I already did that and it didn't fix it... when I replaced motor it worked perfectly
@tietajajoshua8 жыл бұрын
The motor and sensor are linked, so sure you can replace the whole assembly and that will fix it...

I have the same problem on my turntable. I cleaned this bearing, glued some extra plastic to small black circle on the other side - but nothing helps. Any ideas how to fix this speed sensor?
@MrEarbuckets7 жыл бұрын
There is no ball bearing in a v1 or v2 pdx motor. that's the end of the shaft otherwise known as Shaft End. It sits on nothing. The sensor Eye needs to be replaced and is still available. that is an Agilent sensor eye.
@stephendavis8917 жыл бұрын
the problem only comes around when you mess with the forward/reverse switch... have a crack at that swith, clean it up ,(switch cleaner) or replace it or if you cant do that,r remove it from the circuit / link out the wiring, themotor is seems allright.....

Looks like a kids toy, a turntable needs to be solid build and have some weight and stability, for mixing -8% to +8% pitch, good set up with tone arm calibration and height, decent cartridge/stylus, plus good slipmats. Keep them serviced and maintained and they'll still be as good as new after 27 years of continued use like my SL 1210mk2's. If you want the best quality then you have to spend big, having said that I'd buy a 2nd hand 1210mk2 over any new deck on the market. Theres just nothing really to go wrong with them.
@djliquit1205 жыл бұрын
I have 1200s and I also customize and repair them. I have for years... That being said Vestax was a likely competitor with Technics and multiple DJs still use them to this day... I repair these as well and this turntable I'm the video has been repaired The turntable in video had and has more pitch control then Technics offered which is why some folks preferred them... I get it... Die hard Technics fan... I am too but does not mean there are not other options out there And after all the years they release the mk7 with nothing else to offer?!? Right now... Reloop is the best option hands down
@djliquit1205 жыл бұрын
Also... Things do go bad on 1200s or else I would have to fix them all the time... Pitch control, calibrations, wow n flutter issues, tonearm issues, etc It's a difficult task to get 2 1200s calibrated where both pitch controls are calibrated exactly the same
