Love your space! We did something similar. If you would like the gravel a bit stiffer sprinkle concrete dust all over it and spray the gravel will settle stiff.

Thank you for unknowingly encouraging me to “keep it simple” and use what I have. I have been doing the same thing with my back yard…..coming up with these grand ideas that I know will not get completed (especially with current prices) in the next year. You reiterated my thoughts today that I need to work with what I have, keep it simple and budget friendly and just get out there and ENJOY it! I don't know where you live Lisa, but I have a huge farmhouse table with 2 long benches. It sits 10 people. 4 on each bench and 2 at each end. It's free to a good home. It has served us very well (5 kids, 2 adults) and I would love to keep it as a craft table after I repaint it but my husband insists we give it away.

How beautiful your family is. Gosh I am just amazed. We live on 46 acres. Know about rocks. Also, downed trees. Use a few logs (bigger) around that fire pit for seating. Kids love to sit on a 'log' seat. (4 grandchildren here) Logs also make nice rustic tables for plants to it on etc. They will also dry and later you can split and burn them.

I use a nice Weather proof hinged storage for all my pillows and cushions right outside. Works great. Just close the Latch with a lock or just a piece of wood so the wind won't blow it open if you have strong winds. You ALL did a great job! Looks like the Littles are enjoying the pit!! Glad to see you do have some A/C!!

I’ve had experience w/ pea gravel. It gets all over. Into grass, etc. children love to mess and play in it….then soon it’s out of its boundaries into everywhere you don’t want it to be. But good luck, and enjoy your picnic area. You guys work hard!

I have wanted to put in gravel, but my problem is it gets stuck in shoes and scratches your wood floors really bad. Mine are scratched enough!

Years ago when we bought our home we had to do all the landscaping and we did the same thing, a gravel patio and we have enjoyed it greatly! It’s inexpensive and easy to maintain. It also looks so nice! We used large size gravel and smaller size gravel to make a pattern and it still looks great!

I really like your new outdoor area. Using rocks to create your outline and filling it in with gravel is great. I love the sound of gravel crunching as you walk on it. One of my favorite things to do is to collect rocks and make borders for my flower beds. Great makeover!

Get a deck box to keep the pillows, chair cushions, wipes, diapers, papertowels, hand sanitizer, lighter for fire pit. I keep all the other things in a basket under my covered patio couch. We use a deck box for the cushions, pillows

Save yourself the hassle of carrying outdoor pillows inside to keep nice. Instead buy an outdoor storage box for those items you want to protect. We received an durable large cube hinged outdoor storage box as Christmas gift for storing outdoor pillows and Ikea fake sheepskins for Adirondack chairs around our propane fire pit. Best gift ever and is sturdy fake durable product that looks like dark wicker.

Looks great! We did the same thing extending our cement patio adding gravel with a paver edge. We hope one day to build a platform deck partially covered with a wooden cover, but this is great in the meantime. I love the look of a gravel patio.
