Peace Corps and Older Adults

I served from the age of fifty-four, through sixty. Being an elder in Namibia was an advantage. Most of my colleagues were fine. I felt that I needed to ‘prove myself’ to middle-aged males. My experience as both a nurse and educator came in handy and I now serve, virtually in South Africa. I love it!

This video is inspiring even though I'm just in my mid-40s. I have applied for the Peace Corps to go next year, and if all goes well, I'd love to do it again when I am officially an "older adult". One aspect that has changed since this video was made is that applicants are now able to indicate which regions or countries they prefer to serve in, and they can choose regions they want to be excluded from (for whatever reason, e.g., safety, opportunities to travel, proximity to friends or family, or just because they want an experience in a country they've never live in). Applicants can also directly apply for a particular opening in any specific country for which the Peace Corps is recruiting.

Consider Peace Corps give opportunity to explored the culture and language. Also is a friendships Organization non profit. The values of the person was cristian. But thinking maybe come from rich families and other support the countries in foreing place. The interest are the education Agriculture environment ( ambiente) etc. Cynthia
