I the reason why I like Peacemaker, after watching the first 4 episodes for context, is that his father was absolutely horrible for him in his childhood, which inadvertently influence his very crass and problematic personality. And I love how the show frames Peacemaker and his father’s relationship as messy and complicated. Yes, PM acknowledges that he’s an awful person when talking to vigilante and adebayo. but the reason why I think he’s still together with him is that he’s family, so there’s this underlying obligation to be there, which is made even worse since he doesn’t have any other model parental figure. They only agree to one thing which is to fight crime, and that his father makes the helmets for PM. What also surprises me is that even though he maintains this problematic and psychopathic personality from his father, he surprisingly still has a good heart underneath that. Despite the complications he’s gone through with his team, I thought it would be a WHOLE lot worse considering that his dad had some influence on him. TL;DR, I like peacemaker for his faults and potential redemption arc.

It wasn’t that he was a “lovable racist,” it’s that he would say true things in a bombastic and indelicate way. Archie may have been uncomfortable, ignorant, or just plain uninterested in other races or cultures, but he didn’t hate. Peacemaker’s character fits that bill and had the writers of the show been smart they would have done the same with his dad’s character and made it hurt more when he decides to “ignorantly” turn against his son. As it is it’s so unbelievable how much he hates his son and makes it hard to care about that character or the relationship.

I don't care anything about his politics or about his personal life; John Cena is a great actor! He really made me feel for the Peacemaker! The show is well written and entertaining!
