Honestly, Katatonia are so good at this dark pulsing electronica that I wouldn't complain if the whole album sounded like this. I'm still expecting them to riff it up as well but I'm honestly just glad they're still making music. Dat voice!

I was heading to a nightshift surfing youtube. Until I saw this, I literally froze, looked up to the sky, took a deep breath and hit play. I walked goalless beside the wood in the dark hearing this soothing voice and was literally about to shed tears. When I reached the hospital where I work when I took off the Headphones it felt like I was thrown out of happily depressing paradise. Those guys never failed me. not once.

There is something different about the vocals... something richer in terms of range and layers. It is reminiscent of their earlier music but is also quite unique. As always the sound is intelligent, mature and moving.

I noticed a simmilar thing, when I saw them live last spring - Jonas sounded somewhat different live - less breathy, more controlled, fuller. I suppose, he had some vocal lessons in last few years.

LOVE. This was released on my birthday and I didn’t even notice. Another lyric from a Katatonia song had stuck with me after many familial deaths: “Sing a song for the ones who never made it.” The lyric here in Lacquer reminded me so much of that, “I’m just staying around to sing your song.” I feel as though everything I do is for them-for the ones who never made it. This is so absolutely mental - it’s the most awesome dark and beautiful song ever written IMO .... I am straight as an arrow but damn ,Jonas’s vocals almost give me an eargasm- loving what I’m hearing and I’m so happy they are trying new sounds and formats !

Long-time Katatonia fan, and recently got heavily into Sleep Token. I'm digging this for sure. It's different, sure, but Jonas is there and that's almost certainly enough for me. I'll reserve full judgment for when the album drops. But this one's going on a playlist once it's on Spotify in the meantime. Moody and atmospheric. I'm in.
