I've argued countless times with SEC haters who were adamant about Florida State being included in the playoff because they were undefeated, despite the fact that the ACC is weak, thus they had a relatively weak strength of schedule compared to teams in the SEC. Like a wise man once said, those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. I mean, don't they know the SEC has been totally dominating NCAA football for over a decade. When the SEC haters were adamant about including FSU while excluding Alabama, I knew beforehand they were in for a rude awakening. Thankfully, the playoff committee did consider this irrefutable fact to avoid looking like fools.

That was always going to be the narrative of the SEC beat a BIG team dispute PSU without most of their top players . Bowl games aren’t a good indicator anymore with players leaving for the draft! The preseason and playoffs are where it matters! Georgia was the best team 2 years ago, OSU with Marv healthy was the best team last year, and this year Bama plays Michigan so we’ll find out. Side note: not saying UGA didn’t deserve the chip last year, but OSU was running them before Marv went down

I don’t think bowl games are a good judge of anything anymore. They’ve been ruined. Other than maybe annual revenue, and depth. Teams that spend more money are going to likely have better 2nd and 3rd stringers. Too many players sitting out for the draft, or in the transfer portal. Some teams don’t even have their head coach. Only exception would be the teams in the playoffs of course.

Three main reasons for PSU loss: 1. Allard's atrocious passing inability, 2. our secondary is very weak against good teams, 3. the OC's poor play calling.. Congrats to Ole Miss.. Penn State fans here, great win for Ole Miss, this Penn State team reminded me so much of 2007 Ohio State. Also got some flashbacks of 1997 Penn State. We can already see the effect of the loss of Manny Diaz as DC, but I'm not going to offer any excuses, Ole Miss was the better team. If we still had Manny Diaz, we would have just lost 23-17 instead (8 of our points were in garbage time). Outplayed, outcoached, outmanned, outgunned, outlasted, we just got flat out licked. This worries me for 2024. This team could very well go 7-5 next season.

Every team that isn't in the SEC is "overrated", the reason why is to try to keep other regions of the country interested in the sport, it doesn't work though and that's why the NFL is a way way better game, it's organized to make things harder on the better teams, which is precisely what makes for interesting, competitive games. College football is a snoozefest which is boring and predictable, Bama or Georgia is gonna win every year, SEC teams are gonna show up when other teams don't, it's the same old same old same old every year, how does one not get bored of it?

Penn State got spanked, but unlike FSU in the Orange Bowl, at least they showed up to play. The playoff format does eliminate, for the most part, a muddled and murky season-ending outcome. But it seems to have also created a lot of blowout and complacent performances in games where there is less to play for.

Penn State making it to New Years 6 bowls is over! No more 10 win seasons for Franklin with USC, UCLA, and Washington. With Michigan and Ohio State, we're looking at 5 and 6 loss seasons. Lucky they don't get Oregon next year. They may beat UCLA from time to time depending on which team shows up.

I don't think that's true, USC, UCLA, not that great, Washington, yes, but I think PSU will hold their own in Big10, or whatever it is. Still won't do them any good against an SEC team though, just like today. And yes, I'm a Big 10 grad, the conference is just weak.

@@Clearanceman2 Anyone with an objective opinion knows that the SEC is the best football conference in the country top to bottom (even with the boat anchor that is Vanderbilt (they make up for it in Baseball) but it’s not like it’s by a country mile that the SEC is the best football conference (what is the score with Auburn and Maryland…yes that Maryland…right now? The Big Ten is a close second, and next year will probably be even a closer second.

@@stacibutcher1230 Every school face those same events. At some point, drop your schtick cuz it is not working or a good look. Big10 is a good conference (especially with Oregon, Wash, UCLA added) ... just not as good as the SEC. SEC has the most influence, most wealth in terms of payouts to schools and TV rights, and has the best region for recruiting NFL players - so much so you Big10 schools poach our recruits/coaches from the south.

SEC is the best conference in CF. Missouri pounched OSU yesterday and I highly doubt Michigan beats Alabama. I think Alabama wins by at least 21 points.

@@LABoyko But SEC haters were very vocal this year about the playoff committee being biased for selecting Alabama while supposedly snubbing Florida State. Thankfully this argument has been laid to rest after Georgia absolutely blew out Florida State earlier today, proving once again that the SEC is again the dominant conference and that FSU did not belong in the playoff. So the 2023 College Football Playoff Selection Committee made the right decision by including Alabama, which beat Georgia in the SEC Championship game while not including FSU. Like a wise man once said, those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. I mean, don't they know the SEC has been totally dominating NCAA football for over a decade. When the SEC haters were adamant about including FSU while excluding Alabama, I knew beforehand they were in for a rude awakening. Thankfully, the playoff committee did consider this irrefutable fact to avoid looking like fools.

Games like this kinda makes me wonder about the direction of D1A college football. The opting out/tranfer portal phenomena is causing potentially exciting matchups to go bust; Coaches leaving one second after the season is over causes confusion (Did Manny Diaz really have to report to Duke one second after the Mich State game - why not coach until the end of the season). Money has driven every major rule change regarding players eligibility (except academic requirements - which still tend to be on the low end of the spectrum)... it's driving the product and everything associated with it backwards. I understand about the Draft, don't wanna risk getting hurt, yada yada yada, but don't you risk injuries in the regular season too? Somehow now, players make it through training camp, a pre-season exhibition and the 12 game regular season - and somehow get spooked over just one more game - how? How did the great players of the past make it? There were no "opt out or transfer portals"...they played and didn't think twice about it. Many won't play in the "Bowl Games", but somehow show up for the "all-star" games like the Senior Bowl (oh, that's right - more NFL Scouts in the stands). At the end of the day, the players and Coaches have the right to look out for themselves, but don't hate on me if I don't share their excitement...and start to look for other things to do on Fall weekend afternoons.
