Wow!😌 what a very beautiful set of Suhr guitars, I already have a Suhr Modern, but the Gold Hardware Standard is too beautiful to pass. I hope to get one in the future. Tried and owned other brands (the favorite of almost 90% of guitarists, the big "F" and "G"). 😊 And Suhr hands down stands out in terms of playability and craftsmanship. When it comes to Tone: it could be equal depending on preference. Anyway kudos again to Jack, such an excellent player...loved the cool licks. Your channel rocks! keep it up mate.🤘

It’s complicated. It is a cheaper wood, it’s species grows fast (25ft in a year fast). That being said Fender is using it in their custom shop on some models. It’s a softer wood and takes kind to dents and relic-ing. It also has a good grain pattern when stained but it does have issues from cheaper manufactures using new growth wood. There’s a decent risk in seeing neck pocket distortion. It’s kind of similar to when Pau Ferro was on higher end boutique guitars in the early 90s before disappearing and coming back as the cheap alternative. (Wenge looks better but I guess it’s endangered now) That being said, I’m staying away unless I can pick up a dented Suhr used in a couple years for the discount. I’d prefer a guitar with a roasted alder body, flame maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard any day of the week if we’re talking full price.

Not really, and it’s a great sounding wood with single coils. Wood is an ever changing price point. Remember when no one wanted Pau Ferro and it was cheap, then it was expensive and everyone wanted it? Woods are a strange thing like that and there are many tone woods that go up and down in price and demand. If it sounds good, who cares about the price point? There are so many expensive fancy woods that sound horrible, just look at the PRS Private stock range, beautiful looking and expensive guitars that sometimes sound like a mess. Also don’t expect a currently cheaper piece of wood translate into a cheaper price point for the guitar it’s made from.

Great playing Jack! The EMG 85 is such an overlooked bridge pickup. Way more dynamic and warm than the usual 81 to my ears. I have one in an old Hamer and it totally rules!
