Peak District - Wild Camping above the clouds on Kinder Scout

This weeks mini adventure will officially go down as my favourite ever solo wild camps in the glorious Peak District, all the conditions were perfect to make it a night to remember. I arrived in Edale to clear skies and as I walked up Kinder Scout the mist / cloud began to roll up the valley and over the Great Ridge. I spent a mesmerising 7-8 hours time lapsing everything I could see from cloud inversions to the moon and stars. If every wild camp in the future was exactly like this, then I would be very happy indeed :-)

I think in all the years I've been watching your adventures Dean, this is the my goto when ever I introduce people to the channel. I can't believe this was 8 years ago now, such an inspiration to get out and Wild camp but alas still not achieved it.. I hope you're well mate, and life's treating you good, looking forward always to more content hopefully in the future :) Thanks again. JW

Hi John, thanks for watching, sharing and for your kind words. This was a truly memorable night and I often think about it. It does seem like such a long time ago now, my life has changed massively, for the better I’m pleased to say. So much so I don’t feel I need as much escapism as I craved back then, very content being with family, having adventures with them and with work. I’ve got 5 or 6 videos to edit at the moment from the past 12 months, it’s got a bit out of hand 😂 All the best and please do set a date to go for a camp wild camp 🤞 Dean

Absolutely fantastic Dean. Those moments you have captured are awesome. Really just has to be one of those times you were in the right place at the right time and im sure was thoroughly enjoyable experience. What a lot of kit to carry, I should think a Berghaus wheel barrow would be required soon. In all your globe-trotting this year I am sure these were your favourite moments captured. Thanks so much for bringing these scenes to us.

Hi Stephen, I'd say these were definitely my favourite mountain moments of the year so far. I've been fortunate enough (some would say spoilt) to have seen a varied range of sights this year around the world, 2015 certainly has been a flipping excellent year. My 2015 highlights video is going to be a tough one to edit simply because it will be hard to choose what to put in it and what to omit. Also, I may have to employ a Sherpa if I plan on taking all my cameras on a regular basis :-) thanks for watching mate. P.s. I've just sent you an email but from a different address so hopefully it got through.

Hi Dean, just recently started watching your videos. Absolutely love them mate. They fetch back really bitter sweet memories for me. So many of the places you visit are familiar to me. Before the onset of arthritis in my hips I used to do a lot of wild camping especially in the Bleaklow area. I've polished many a half bottle of whisky off on a cold February night in Round Cabin. Really enjoy the way your stuff triggers happy memories for me. Keep going please Kind Regards. Fred Ridall.

I have a real affinity for what you have captured there Dean ,,, whenever I got up into Derbyshire in the camper I was out before day break in the hope of seeing the hill tops and peaks floating like islands on the slowly moving sea of mist, which sometimes almost had its own beat, rising and filling the valley some islands and peaks slowly been smothered, then the mist slowly ebbing away again ... down the valley tips of peaks and hills been re-born, growing once again into floating islands in the sky ,,, hard to explain to someone who has never seen it how totally captivating and awesome it actually is,,,,, and its so so special its hard to capture in a way that actually does justice to the majesty of the breathing landscape, but ten out ten Dean you certainly did do justice to something very special and something very hard to capture, great sky shots as well , the Great bear swinging around the pole ,,,, every credit that has to go down as very special and very much appreciated ,,,, Many thanks and regards ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Alan

+Alan Plumb thank you Alan, it's certainly a spectacular phenomenon. The cloud seems to flow like water does and move in waves like the sea breaking on the shore. truly spectacular to watch when sped up. He has a track called "Berlin Song" which is one of my favourites, breathtaking audio. Thanks again for watching Alan

+John Clarke Thanks John, was really happy with the way this one turned out. i'm still learning so hope to keep on pushing and make them better and better. my Zephyros still has a broken zip on the door, I broke it last year on Blencathra and keep putting off fixing it :-) I didn't mind sleeping with the door open on this occasion though, it's no wonder I didn't get to sleep until gone 2 am with the views that were on offer. all the best and thanks for watching

Superb scenes, you've played a blinder with that temperature inversion, certainly at this time of year. To get those spectacular images in November and for it to this mild is extra lucky! Spot on!

Was put on to this video by +Yorkshirewanderer. Those timelapses of the night sky took my breath away. I've always wanted to experience the sky like that. Need to go and see it with my own eyes now and hope the clouds allow me. ATB, Mike

Im the same, I have words for everything but that would leave me speechless. The only thing thats ever done that so far in my life were some slow smoked ribs in Texas. Here's to clear skies. I'm sure we will. I've never done any hiking/trailwalking so its a new experience for me. I'm used to hammocking in the sheltered woods. Lets see how we get on!
