I'm a musician and Irish dancer from Dublin, and have heard dancers dance to this song for years. I was looking around KZbin to see how people play it, and NOBODY else I found plays it with a swing like this, which is how it's supposed to be played. Either all the notes are somehow wrong, or it's all straight 8th notes and has no hornpipe feel. I loved this, and your rendition of The Butterfly slip jig. Thank you from Dublin!

What I love with traditionnal music is that it's never quite the same. Everyone has their own adjustment, little tricky sound, and way of moving through the music.

You not only pull the strings on your fiddle, but apparently all the heart strings who listened and comment on this tune...why does this tweak the eye and bring a tear? How do you DO that?!!! AWESOME magical ability you have my friend.

My first interaction with this song is from a game called Morrowind. The song came from a mod someone made back in 2005-2008... a huge castle with Nordic/Irish mythos tied to the few quests involved with it. It plays in a dockside tavern, with a talking fish that begins "Drunken Sailor" if you ask it to. But I always remember "King of the Fairies" because I had to request it from the band that was playing in that tavern. All aside, I completely forgot about "peakfiddler" around 2013, and just now decided to search for "King of the Fairies." Boom. It's there right here, with a tab I can play on my mandolin. So much love from the Aspect of Music, my friend. Also so good to see this channel still kicking.

Beautiful! Thank you, sir. Love the grace-notes and ornamentation. Many years ago, I heard a 4-man group sing lyrics to this melody. Might have been "The King's Singers"? " I wish I was, I wish I was, a child again, to walk and wander in the lovely Fairy Glen"...
