Great recap but in England the 'A' in Birmingham is pronounced as a 'U' and the 'H' is silent. In the US Birmingham, Alabama the 'A' is an 'A'. The original Birmingham, England is always pronounced with a 'U'. The same applies to most English places ending in "ham".
