As long as you are in the que for "closing time" you will get on the ride even if the park has "closed" they actually close the park after the very last riders on the longest queing ride. Just in case anyone didnt know that. I only found out this past summer, finding out from one of the workers on baggage at the wickerman. We managed to ride it one last time, getting it done 3 times in one day.

I’m curious as to wether Wicker Man’s theming is going to get better with age. If you look at 3:48 there’s that open area which gives you spectacular views of the coaster, but you can see that they’ve planted trees there. So in 20 years time there could be a mini forest there, enclosing the queue line. That is of course, if it makes it 20 years, which I’m definitely sure it will. It looks like it was built to last, except I highly doubt the fire effects will make it that long.
@peanutismint5 жыл бұрын
That would be amazing. I actually think with that amount of wood, if they don't keep the theming cleaned etc, it'll naturally get mossy and look like it's rotting which could be quite cool.

Despite not being a particular fan of rollercoasters, I’ve watched quite a few rollercoaster ride videos on KZbin, now... I’ve absolutely no idea how or why they first ended up in my recommended list! 🤷🏻♂️ This compilation of yours is definitely the best. 😊👍 Here’s why... 1) Although I live in the UK, I had no idea that Alton Towers is as impressive as you showed it to be, and that it actually beats so many US theme parks in many ways. 2) You filmed and edited all of your rides very well, and gave a very involving and representative feel for the ride experiences and Alton Towers as a whole. 3) Your video encapsulated something about thrill rides that I’d forgotten or not fully appreciated before, and it’s this... A thrill ride is very much A SHARED GROUP ACTIVITY - even though one might only share it with random strangers... During that time, all of those people are brought together by sharing exactly the same feelings and sensations at the same time... whether they be awe, anxiety, excitement, fear, relief, joy... and there is something very edifying about people being brought together in that way, knowing that they have all participated in the same innocent experience, and all know exactly how everybody else felt at that time... In life - all too often - we manage to exist in physical or mental isolation, oblivious, detached or cut off from the lives, feelings and emotions of even our closest neighbours. For us all to vicariously and viscerally share all of the feelings of our fellow human beings for a few brief minutes is actually a charmingly positive thing, that brings people together - even if it’s an all too brief encounter. And in my book... that’s worth the price of admission alone... 🖖😎

Couldn't agree more! Glad you enjoyed the video :-)

You have a very honest and engaging way of communicating your obvious enthusiasm for what you enjoy and appreciate, and you provide a documentary like narrative that is better than many journalists. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing. 🖖😎 (Ps. Can you explain why it is that Rollercoaster enthusiasts specifically appreciate wooden rollercoasters? Is it just a nostalgic appreciation of how it all began, or just that the method of construction makes the finished product look so awesome?)

Fun fact about wicker man: it was believed to be that the ancient Celtic druids would choose someone once a year to be sacrificed to the wicker man, some felt honoured and others didn’t. The runes you see are most likely Celtic pagan runes, but probably altered to fit in with the ride.

Just came back from AT , first time ever. Very impressed but queues were massive and I had only 6 rides after all day. Definitely will be back when will be a bit colder so maybe waiting time won't be that long . Did you have to ask in advance for any permission for filming? I had my camera today with and I asked park staff if I could use it secured on my chest harness and they refused.

Funnily enough, I've just got back from Thorpe Park! And it was also massively crowded and only did about 5 rides! Nah I didn't ask anyone's permission to film, just did it. They're getting very touchy over safety; I understand needing to protect other guests from idiots holding phones/gopros but to outright refuse people with safely secured chest mounts/wrist straps (like mine) is going a bit too far...

I agree, it was my first time going this year to AT and the rides were amazing but man, the queue was a nightmare and took forever to get on the rides

Mad i went to alton towers same week as u but i went on a day and they kept shuting and reopening rides making it hard to go on rides. We later made a complaint to the AT team where they have given us free entrys back. Great staff there and a great place just sad the whether messed up many of there rides

Best time to visit is when school terms are in place and go on a Monday to Friday. 5 minute ques on all or most rides for me 👍

We have The Efteling, PonypRk Slagharen, Hellendoorn, Duinrell which are true ThemeParks. 6flags is more like a coasterpark to me. But that is why I love Disneyworld's Magic Kingdom so much. More than Universal tbh....(though the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is nice! Love the trainride between Isle of Adventures and Universal Studios. (you need a parkhopper ticket for that). Saves you a sh*tload of walking too lol and the scenery is different depending which way you go. Very nicely done) The spinning house is what Villa Volta is in De Efteling, but yours looks much cooler! Also the park looks massive. (kinda like De Efteling but worse)

How on earth did you not get stopped on any of the rides? I only took my phone out of my pocket to check the time on the way up Oblivion and they came up and took my phone off me!

Wow 😯🤗 I had no idea such a cool themed park existed! Of course, it's in the UK! So much work went into this place, I love it! And, being an American, you're totally right. I stopped going to amusement parks long ago. They're just boring, with a couple of exceptions. I'd travel just to go to Alton Towers!😍💛💙

I went to Altan Towers last week and the one thing that I dread is the Wicker Man queue
