Thank you for this recipe and video! That dish of crispy baked pear dumplings looks really good! I agree with Harold, get the ice cream ready!! : ) Whenever I have made this I did not know to not dissolve the sugar or not pour the soda all over the dumplins; therefore, my dish never looked this crispy and good! This is a special treat that we would have usually only on our family beach vacations to go with breakfast, when peaches are in season, or made with apples too. I have used Sprite but when I did not have Sprite I have had ginger ale and used that which we liked it with that too, I cannot tell the difference. Once, I tried to make this with homemade biscuit dough when we were at home and that turned out ok too. I have never made it with Mountain Dew because we don't usually drink that. I like the idea of trying pear and also sweet potato!! We will definitely be trying those!! Thank you for the different ideas and the tips about the sugar and not pouring the soda on the dough!
