Pearl 1980’s Marching Snare to “Field Drum"

Pearl 1980’s Competitor Snare drum
I try to change this drum to "Field drum"
- Refinish Drum shell
- Change Metal hoops to Wood hoops
- Change Syntactic Gut snare wires to Snappy Snare wires (Pearl s-022)
- Change Marching drum heads to Concert snare heads (Remo Diplomat Fiberskyn and Diplomat Snare Side)

I really wanted to restore my field drum that I used back when I was at my drum corps but too broke.

@@jjpercussionrepair What I mean by broke is I don't have the money to get it fixed.

Replace the wires with the gold coated Black Swamp snares ($70) and you'll be amazed by the sound you'll achieve. I have a late 60's Rogers Dynasonic 10X14 marching snare and the Black Swamp snares totally transformed the sound of my drum. I used the wrap around model but you could use the regular model depending on the clearance of the snare strainer. Try it. You wont be dissappointed. Nice drum by the way.

Actually I have one Blue Coated/ Stainless Black Swamp Snare wires. But i never try it on this drum. I will try it! Do you know what the different between of Gold Coated and Blue Coated/Stainless?

@@jjpercussionrepair All I know is what the description says on the Black Swamp site. You could go there for a description. After e-mailing the company, the guy on the other end said that if I wanted the old school gut sound, I would need to buy the gold coated snares. He was right.
