Pearl Harbor: The impetus for my father enlisting in the U.S. Army immediately after Pearl Harbor. My Uncle (KIA: North Africa: November 1942) had been drafted. God Bless our brave military … this Band of Brothers I so deeply respect and admire. 🇺🇸

I was in the Marine Corps from June of 99 till September 2001, when I got hurt. I was overseas from July of 2000 till January of 2001. In September of 2000 I was in mainland Japan and took a tour of Nagasaki and an older Japanese man said to me, " did you see what you Americans did?" I told him"to go to Pearl Harbar and see what they did to make us come do this, at least when we bombed you, you knew we were at war, it wasn't a sneak attack on a Sunday morning."

@VoicesofHistory, afterwards one of my higher ups came over with a big smile on his face and said "you shouldn't have said that. It was true and funny but you still shouldn't have said it." I replied, " I never got to know my mom's dad because of them. This should be our country."

My dad was stationed in Samoa in 1941 the 1st Marine Corps Resrve our government knew war was coming and they called up the marine Reserves to serve in the So pacific his Battalion was the first fleet force to operate in the So pacific they were named the Barefoot Marines because they didnt ware shoes . They had a uniqe uniform a khaki wraparound cloth with a small red felt shield patch Marine rank Chevrons with an M1 cartridge belt . They were abandon there when the war broke out , they couldnt get supply ships in and the navy didnt have ships available to pick them up it took months before they came to pick them up , they ate off the the fat of the land mostly fish . They called their deployment prewar national emerency . Of America 🇺🇸 Samoa So why would our Government anchor our fleet all in one place at Pearl . Makes you wonder? Thanks Larry for your tribute to thoes who served in WW2 Hurrah to the greatest genertion 🇺🇸🌹

Our country is famous for forgetting. Many have forgotten 9/11 also. It takes a national tragedy to bring us together. Even that doesn’t last very long.
